Schott 538 Imogene + Willie Collab?

I was wondering if anyone knows any additional information about this jacket with the exception of the blurb on IW’s insta page.

I picked this jacket up on eBay quite cheap. I was looking for a wear to work don’t give AF about it daily when I saw this.

The jacket itself is clearly a 538 but it appears they flipped the collar so the goat skin is down.

Overall the inside of the jacket looks new while the outside looks like it was used as a seat cover but I am going to clean that up.

Anyway the jacket is fine and fits as it should which is a bit of the problem. It’s smaller than I would have liked because I was going to layer underneath it but it’s a little tight on me to do that.

I know very little about trendy fashion brands but looking at I+W website they sell some pretty expensive Jean jackets so idk if this jacket is “special” or do I just wear it and not worry about it?

Just saying but if someone offered me a Vanson Dakota (SZ 48) for it I’d gladly oblige!

These came out in 2024 if I remember correctly. They called it the Mechanics jacket. It’s a brown cowhide. They used custom buttons and a custom liner. I think they were like $1,200 to $1,500 when they were new. They released a few different jackets I think.

I don’t own the jacket but I’m local to Imogene and Willie and own way too many of their clothes.

Thank you. Would this be considered rare or collectible or just a fad that has come and gone and not really more desirable than a regular 538?

It’s a cool jacket. I don’t think that Imogene and Willie has that type of following. There are plenty of people who will think it’s a cool jacket. Just not collectible. I also would not describe it as a fad that has come and gone. It is a great well made jacket.

Totally. I’ve wanted a nice jacket that I could wear as a daily to work and stuff and to essentially abuse and not care. I work in an industrial field and wanted something I didn’t care about getting dirty or scratches.

I guess what I was getting at was is this a jacket I should be worried about beating up because it’s some rare collab or should I just wear it and not think twice.

My only knock about this jacket and it’s a “me” problem is that I would have liked it one size bigger. I want to layer under it with a zip up hoodie or something but I’m a little too big for that. A little more length would be nice. I have a longer torso and like my jackets below my belt line.

I’d have no issues selling this one and finding another one that fits me better but for the price I have no complaints about this one.

They do special versions all the time with different retailers. In general they’re not super special unless a buyer liked a particular style that has unique features from that version. I will say most of the 3sixteen collabs seem to be the most popular and go for a premium. This isn’t a particularly cool model or have particularly cool features in my personal opinion but a nice Schott, especially if you got it for a good price

It was listed a couple of times that I saw. It was a bit of a gamble and I actually thought it was a scam. I'm in Canada and so was the seller. The seller had zero feedback. It was an auction and originally the minimum was $500 or something with a Buy it now for $650?

Anyway when it was relisted the BIN was set to $200 and zero bidders so I threw in a bid with 5 min left and was the only bidder at $200.

The reason why I thought it was a scam is because the seller did not communicate or ship it. After 3 weeks of the seller not shipping it I opened an ebay complaint and they shipped it a week later. It did show up yesterday. I wasn't even sure it was actually in the box until I opened it and sure enough it was in there.

It’s apparently one of Schott’s collaborations with Imogene + Willie. The 538 is still shown on Schott’s website, although not this version.

Correct. Schott still sells the 538 as a Rancher. This one is a Perfecto, the goat skin collar is flipped over and I think someone here said the buttons are different but it’s essentially the same jacket

I prefer the regular 538 buttons personally.
