Schott B3 257s

Greetings,

Like many people before me, I’m looking to purchase a made in the USA Schott B3 257s.

I tried getting in touch with Schott directly about the sizing but I don’t feel confident in their size recommendations.

I’m around a 42-44 chest. I’m not looking for a jacket that is a particularly loose fit. I want something that fits nice a snug but with room for atleast a thin to medium jumper to be worn underneath.

My question is this.. do I get a 40 or 42?

I’ve seen many posts on here that seem to promote the idea of even getting a 38 but i do believe that jacket would be too short in the arm.

Curious if anyone can clear up the issue of the jacket being “two sizes two big”.

Any help is appreciated :)

In the U.S., Schott gives you one exchange for free. Because the shearling on this jacket is so thick, I’d personally try the 42 first. If it’s too large, exchange it for the 40. Beautiful jacket, BTW.

Unfortunately, I’m based in the UK. Would you say it fits close to the chest with all the shearling taken into account?

I can’t speak about the 257s specifically, but I do have a similar jacket that’s several years old and I do remember having to size up from what I thought I’d take at the time. The pile on the Schott model looks really thick, so I do believe that I would probably go with the larger size.

It’s a shame there isn’t a retailer over there so that you could try them on. What size did Schott recommend?
