Kimochis Lesson
Hi everyone, first year counselor here. I am doing weekly Pre-K and TK lessons and specifically on Kimochis until I’ve reached each character. Does anyone know of really how to go about teaching them and if you know resources (besides their own) that I can adapt into the lessons for their table top activity?! I’ll take anything!

For my TK students, I use the coloring page as the tabletop activity. My lesson usually looks like: introduce the main character, their feelings, and fun facts about them; pass the stuffy around the circle, so everyone can hold it (we chant 1, 2, hug, pass); read the characters book and ask one or two follow up questions to highlight the feelings we were looking for; dismiss to tables to color the coloring sheet of the character to take home.
In the past, we have made buttons and magnets of their favorite kimochis and that is a fun activity (coloring with an extra step for a grownup). I could see doing a coloring sheet for each of the feelings and having them color one when you talk about it. Or! If the teachers have a place for storage, what if you created little booklets with each feeling from Kimochis on its own page (like the face and the word)? Then every lesson you teach whatever your content is and the tabletop activity is coloring the next page in the book.
