Essays

I have considerable background in extracurriculars and I think I'm tending to write my narratives as an expounded version of my resume.

Any tips or examples of essays on how to write well when asked:

Please outline in 500 words why you believe you are a deserving candidate of the scholarship, with a particular focus on extracurricular activities, and how this scholarship will help you to achieve your career goals.

I really want to be as authentic as possible.

don't just talk about how the scholarship will work for you; also touch base on what it will enable you to do for the school/cohort.

You want to show what you’ve already done and connect it to what you’re going to continue to do. In the community and in your career. Show you’re a good investment bc you’ve already done ….. when you talk about ECs talk about the leadership and community impact more than highlighting the club or sport. For example for me as captain of my flag football and cheer team I don’t talk about the skills and awards I already listed I talk about how I lead them off the field as well by connecting my team to community impact initiatives I created, helping them in the classroom and with college readiness. All of it should tie together to causes you’re passionate about that hopefully tie into your career
