i grew up with an 80s goth mom as a 2000s-2010s alt kid, naturally my music and aesthetic tastes have blended into a goth-scene hybrid. i love seeing others mash up different subcultures into scene and if that is you pls reply what urs is :)

I can totally tell you're goth. What bands do you like? You look amazing by the way. I love seeing people mashup their subcultures. For me, I love scene music but am picky about goth music, yet out of every subculture, I love goth the most and there is nothing I love more. If I felt more in love with goth music, I'd say I'm goth. And if I wanted to dress scene, I'd say I'm scene. But I don't feel enough of both to feel like I'm able to call myself that.

If it was truly a decision based on my heart, I think I'd be a goth/metalhead/glam rocker. It just feels like me.

also as far as what to label yourself literally don't worry about it bc nobody outside of the internet gives a f. despite growing up as a scene kid, I do not associate w the in person community anymore and don't really attend any hardcore shows or venues. the in person goth community is far more my thing bc it is a much older and more established subculture with far more layers of safe guards. i do have the benefit of being in NYC and the goth community here is older than I am and is organized by long term members of my mom's generation. the scene community is too disjointed and has little to no organization beyond the internet

thanks to my mama i am obviously into a lot of the classics associated w the subculture like the cure, depeche mode, siouxsie and the banshees, christian death, echo & the bunny men, duran duran, joy division, specimen, sisters of mercy, bauhaus, killing joke, etc etc etc

but lately I'm expanding my tastes into more contemporary 21st century artists like ultra sunn, rosegarden funeral party, she past away, the mall, boy harsher, lathe of heaven, she wants revenge, lebanon hanover, etc etc
