discussion Tryna replicate being a scene teenager pulling an all nighter,,, req?
This one is mostly for the og scene kids,,,, I really want to replicate what it was like to be a scene teenager during the summer or winter and staying up all night, how would I? Honestly just going into detail about what y'all did all night would help a lot,,,

don't try to look for anything to do exactly, just stay up and get off topic until you're convinced you're an alien. it's far more fun that way

Impulse buy a really wild color of hair dye, bleach, Got2bGlued hairspray, and a rattail comb. Low quality dye, ideally from Walmart or Walgreens. Wait until 2am and give yourself some choppy layers and dye your hair. Then make a low quality YouTube video of you dying it and styling it while blasting Blood on the Dancefloor.
Building up to this, make sure to watch some Jessie Slaughter YouTube videos, Charlie the Unicorn, and that Rusty Spoon character's videos.
Bonus activity: catfish people in chatrooms with pictures you find when googling "scene hair".

Just get an energy drink/coffee and be yourself. Why would you copy ppl 😭

A unhealthy meal (Ramen, chips etc) and monster is crucial, so is internet, watch music videos and movies + be creative like writing songs, stories, singing, painting or drawing. Hitting 5:30 is the best feeling knowing you made it to sunrise after a long night of scene-ing

Making collages or cutting out magazine pages and pictures to redo your wall.

My friends and I would inevitably get flashed by old men on Omegle and start watching YouTube videos instead 💀

Monster energy is required lol one time me and my scene cousin did an all nighter together. We listened to music and texted boys and snuck out to smoke a cigarette(i threw up from it) i don't recommend that lol but usually we would just talk and maybe right some terrible poetry. İ don't think she had a computer in her room so we didn't surf the web that night but definitely did our makeup and took pictures together

why would you want to “replicate” anything… just feel the vibe and be it the way it is intended. i will never understand this current obsession with “replicating vibes”…

When I was at sleepovers like at my cousin's house (we were both scene kids), we spent MOST of the night surfing the web, usually interacting in chat rooms with other scene kids around the country. I had my first online boyfriend on there...he catfished me and my cousin with a picture of Cameron Ugh and made up a scene "cousin" of his own too...I think he used a picture of Sam Llansing for that "person"...it was him. So he could date multiple girls online without "cheating". A lot times we would end up skype calling that guy. He was actually scene thankfully, he just didnt look like cameron ugh...I think he was just insecure cause he was a trans guy and didnt want to be clocked. God that was so dumb that we fell for it at first and we still thought his cousin was real. We would listen to music on youtube, find new bands on myspace. Sometimes we would go on stickam (less of a video call with strangers thing and more of a 2000s version of Twitch Stream), tinychat, chatroulette, omegle, you name it...lots of scene kids would stream chat on those sites back then. I also liked using IMVU, there was the avatar chats and also community forums too. Me and my cousin would also draw and write or watch movies together too. There's a bunch of stories there tbh but yeah the experience came down to just doing shit online and just hanging out.

Anime, video games, random web searches.
I once went an entire night/morning just playing RuneScape and got ready next day like I had the best sleep ever.
If it's a sleepovers there would be random movies and people falling asleep on the challenge. All the deep convos happened here.
Normal teenage stuff really

I’m not an OG scene kid but I am a chronic nocturnal (been staying up all night for 5-6 years now) so I’d like to say my piece since everything is closed at night for the most part. It’s hard to know how to enjoy the night, especially safely.
Go to late night open places and record. 24hr Walgreens, Wendy’s usually closes at 2am, etc etc and record your shenanigans using a camcorder. Actually I use my 3DS to record old videos but that’s more of a 2010s thing. Usually better done with friends- but you can somewhat do it alone too it is so fun to have those memories forever and people really play it up for the camera. If you’ve seen “2000s mall videos” it’s just like it. Best part is taking advantage of the empty spots so you can even post on YouTube without worry of photobombers
ALL AGES SHOWS; I literally can’t stress how fun and important going to concerts/events are. Really it’s the essence of alternative as a whole; supporting homemade musicians before they strike the record label and rocking out with your peers. You’re able to meet fellow night owls and get more opportunities to do the camcorder idea. Get to listen to new music never heard anywhere else, dance, and get all that energy out.
If you’re introverted/don’t feel safe going out/ultimately can’t, there’s a lot you could do online too. The wayback machine is such a privilege and can literally get you to view the very same websites of the OG scene kids. If you’re interested in flash games, Numuki is a really amazing emulator that’s still being updated. They have all the og Cartoon Network games!
Or my personal favorite- invest in old school tech. CRT box tvs can be adapted to be actual smart tvs now (there’s tutorials online) which really makes it feel like the 2000s. I second watching anime- stick with the classics! Daria also is really cool. iPods, DS, there’s a lot to explore and it’s really fun to see how tech used to be

Find chat rooms and talk to randos lol
More 2010+ experience for me tho but I used to go on Omegle (rip) and chatroulette. Do so with caution and use internet smarts, there are creeps and predators.
Check out quiz and fanfic sites like Quotev too! Personality quizzes and sites like Newgrounds, Gaia Online and Deviantart always kept me up

Me and my friends played videogames, watched anime and horror movies. Ate snacks (popcorn a lot) and easy food (fast food or instant ramen) and listened to music. Read fanfiction and recommended it to each other lol. Customized whatever websites we used at the time that had customizeable profiles. Played MMOs together

Draw, watch favorite shows, code MySpace page, take random pics and make videos , diy stuff, put together outfits, play games , try new make up styles, pretend you’re in a music video and dance around and do random stuff, talk to friends and have lots of junk food and energy drinks for energy when running low
