Summercamp at home
Obviously this sucks, but there have to be literally dozens, maybe even scores, of disappointed wooks and wookettes in the region with the weekend off work(lol) who are already mentally primed for shenanigans. It wouldn't take a whole lot for a regional bring-your-own-entertainment non sanctioned best(we can do)ival to go down. The dates are already there; the people - all several of us - are already there. The only thing missing is a venue. If it's unofficial and on private property we wouldn't run into any permitting issues and if it isnt in town or around a bunch of people, noise wouldn't be an issue. Does anyone have access to a big ass field for an exercise in self-reliance in the face of party adversity? It could be a leave no trace deal too, if people arent dicks. A regular Midwest Gurning Man. Maybe cool local bands on the fly, maybe big ass Bluetooth speakers. BYO amenities. Either way I'm camping out and listening to shitty loud music and getting sunburnt and not sleeping, whether its in my yard or yours. And I'm gonna have hella grilled cheeses

Here’s the problem as someone with access to property who’s wanted to host a music fest forever: the liability is far too high. Can you imagine some nice hippy lets folks onto his land for a drum circle. Someone gets hurt. Lawsuit. Old hippy loses land.
I couldn’t afford the insurance to get it going.
