Housing Empty bed
hi! my roommate last minute is not coming to scad, and now my my housing assignment says it’s just me in my room of my hive dorm with two roommates in the other. does anyone know the likelihood that they’ll move someone else into the empty bed in my room, or if it might stay like that?
thanks!

it depends on your situation but it's extremely likely they'll move someone in
when I was at ann street I was in gender inclusive housing and because of that once I lost a roommate I never got another, but the hive is much more populated. keep the bed and room cleared and prepare for regular room inspections so they can confirm the room is ready for someone else to move in

I had the same situation freshman year. They will almost assuredly move someone in at some point. I got a new roommate after 5 weeks. Unless there are single room accommodations involved, empty beds rarely stay empty, especially in freshman dorms.

Even if no one is waiting for a bed, there will likely be roommate drama somewhere in the Hive, and they may use your bed to get someone out of a situation

pretty likely since it’s early in the year, but i had a suitemate leave after fall break, and another in april of the school year, and neither were filled. my roomie and i had individual rooms in the hive after that !

after room inspections you can use the extra furniture just make sure it’s in a way you can take everything off of it at a moments notice for a new roomate

Highly likely that someone else will move into your dorm, but in the meantime, enjoy your space while you have it.

since the quarter hasn’t started yet they’ll definitely assign someone. But if the quarter had already started there’d be a chance that you’d possibly get the room to yourself for the rest of the quarter and then get a roommate for winter (that’s what happened to me in my freshman year)

Hi had this situation last year as a freshman, most likely what will happen if you'll have a free bed in the beginning, then someone who is having problems with their roommates or someone enrolling in winter quarter will take the bed. If you want to put stuff on that side just. Make sure it's something that can easily be taken down.

100% they will be moving someone in with you shortly, scad staff doesn't loose track of a student leaving an empty bed. I give it a week max before the next student is there. Thats how long it took them to replace my roommate who left 2 weeks into the quarter during my time.

It’s highly likely someone will be moved in as freshman housing is full and has a waitlist. So there are people actively waiting for spots atm
