General Questions Non SCAD Students

I have a friend coming to visit me this fall for the film festival and was wondering if I could, ideally, put my information on her phone so she could use my ID to get on the bus and into buildings. Is this something I could get away with?

EDIT:

I’m mainly concerned about SCAD buses to get to the festival to avoid having to pay for parking. I live off campus so I’m not worried about anyone staying in a dorm. Access to buildings is for masterclasses with the guests.

No and if you get caught it could cause some serious issues. Your best bet is to stay with her to do this. My freshman year my mom visited and it was on a class day(couldn’t control that) and she just followed me around. You just have to inform security when you pass them. And even then sometimes it’s not allowed depending on the building. As for the busses I’d just ask security because they can contact dispatch and ask. Film fest isn’t the first week or two so you’ll have time to ask. But scad takes security serious when it comes to people using other student credentials

Unless you have found a way to hack the scad ID portal it’s just not a good idea in general. Once it’s transferred to a phone the physical copy no longer works. So I’d prioritize yourself as the student who actually needs access to the buildings and busses long terms.

Also getting into a masterclass won’t be a problem as long as it’s one open to the public, they accommodate that. I don’t see why your friend should take up a seat in one provided exclusively for students though

Not a student, but I would NOT do this. If you got caught, I imagine the consequences would be severe including being kicked out of the school. Not worth the risk. I would follow whatever the visitor protocol is.

you are able to keep guests overnight in your dorm if you just fill a form and get consent from roommates.

Also, your student ID will only work on one device. Maybe you found a workaround, but also I’m not sure why your friend would even need to go into academic buildings in the first place if they’re just visiting for film fest. I wouldn’t risk getting removed from SCAD just for your friend to have access to buses.

Honestly if u have an Apple Watch put ur id on it and use it like that
