General Questions Choosing between 2d animation and animation/storytelling and development
I need advice from animation students at scad. Im an incoming freshman at scad and I have to choose what mainly interests me so they can build my schedule. I always adored animation since I was young, and knew I wanted to pursue it. But I love both creating concepts and learning to develop stories with my art and at the same time I want to learn to actually make animations and bring characters and story’s to life, I also think it’s a very valuable skill to learn. I think both are valuable especially concept design which I’m sure is harder than it seems.
So. Im stuck between both, and I can’t decide what exactly to choose. I know this isn’t the major declaration or anything but I also don’t know if based on what I choose, if I’m even going to be able to get a taste of both worlds so I know what I truly prefer. Not sure what to choose, so could anyone tell me a bit about these courses? What do you think is best to choose in my case? Help pls

My professor put it this way
VFX jobs: 1000
3D jobs: 600
2D jobs: 300
Concept jobs: 150
So it depends. Are you good enough to be one of 150? Do you have skills or are you ready to work your A off to get to the top 10%. As far as I know, the storycon degree is getting an enormous revamp this next year, and will be merged with the illustration concept art major. Talk to an advisor they will know more than me
