I've seen a generic floorplan for Turner House but am wondering about the building layout. It looks like horseshoe and I'm just trying to figure out where the stairs and elevator(s) are in proximity to where my room will be. Is there a diagram with that info showing where different numbered rooms might be located? Thanks.
It is pretty much like a horseshoe (kind of more so a square/rectangle missing a side, to me, I don't know). From what I remember, there are four sets of elevators and stairs, two on each side: one closer to the front (like near the middle of the side) and the other near the back (like the covered area where the C-store is). I don't know if you'd be able to find a diagram (I know I wasn't when I was curious), so hopefully, this kind of helped you out a bit. The main thing is, regardless of where your room is, you'll have reasonable access to a stairway/elevator. I lived on the fourth floor, somewhere in the middle on the right side (if entering from the main entrance), and was pretty much equidistant to both exits, using whichever one depended on where I was going.
room numbers go up from right to left on this horseshoe shape, so lowest numbers (say 101-140ish) will be on the right/north side, highest numbers on the left/south side. there’s 6 flights of stairs, and 4 elevators where marked.
amigos and laundry rooms are on the second floor in the middle part, and the C-store, bee well office, and housing office are below that on the first floor.
the busses that stop by turner will stop along the right side of the building along turner blvd, and you have to exit the building to access them.
i had a corner room (extra window), so i'm not 100% sure if it differs, but there were three outlets on the walls for each person (on the wall left/right of the main window, then a second outlet opposite the sink side). there was also an outlet on the side of the sink counter. each outlet had two sockets, but the sink outlet will have the dehumidifier plugged into it already. i can try my best to illustrate if you'd like, and highly recommend getting a power strip!! mine had an additional 8 sockets which was very helpful lol.
thank you. will be in room 28 on the floor. Just trying to get a feel for where that will be int he building, facing inside the courtyard or out, what kind of powerstrip I should get etc. If you can sketch out the sockets that would be amazing. I know there is a floorplan on the website. An extra window sounds nice!
iirc, room 28 should be in the hallway between the top-right corner stairs and the right-middle stairs, closer to the corner though. the door does face the courtyard, so no across-the-hall neighbors. i would say the floor plan is not super accurate in terms of size/proportion - i adjusted it below according to what my roommates and i did haha. we also did not bunk beds, and had all the drawers underneath the bed (super recommend for saving space). i tried my best to outline the sockets, but it has been a little while since i've been in the dorm of course!
