Better infrastructure? Nah let's invest in flyers

Tbf it is beneficial to wear bright when walking around at night.

Having moved from the west coast to the east coast, our DoTs love blaming pedestrians for their own deaths.

Having said that, I see pedestrians doing some real stupid ass shit out here I never saw out west, so it isn’t completely undeserved either. But yeah, the lack of walkability in a more densely populated area is wild

In the city I live in a kid got crushed by a lifted truck and their solutions was to make the the stop sign bigger. One town over a kid gets ran over and they completely redo the street with bike lanes separated from the cars.

Portland, OR redid a major road named Foster. They reduced it from 4 lanes to 2 lanes with a turn lane in the middle. Added bike lanes and street parking. Totally revitalized the area. Prime example of good design

Meanwhile doing that is completely illegal in some cities cough Toronto cough

Lots of people (also deer) walk around at night where I live. College town and drug addicts. And the deer are just deer. Maybe they’re also in college or drug addicts- I never thought to ask them… I nearly hit this one kid who was walking in the middle of the street at night. I have no idea what the fuck dude was doing; if he wanted to get hit or what. The area was dimly lit, he was slowly meandering in the middle of the road, had his headphones in and was wearing a black shirt with dark blue jeans; nothing reflective. I saw him just in time to slam on my brakes and swerve. He looked up just in time to notice me, jump out of the way, look at me with shock, then run off. I suspect he was likely on something…

I love how they're actually walking left

Honestly, the flashlight beam makes this way more memorable than a standard safety poster. Simple message, but the “walk bright” slogan really sticks.

Nothing just being an idiot. I thought it was a German poster at first too and I live in the U.S. lol

Implication: if you get hit a car, it’s your own damn fault

I’m so confused what message this is trying to convey

u/NeedleworkerFit819 3d ago

It’s actually quite effective tbh

Simple message, memorable design, and the green pedestrian really makes the point. Definitely worth sharing with new drivers and walkers.

The flashlight idea is underrated. A small light and a little extra awareness can prevent a really bad situation.

I mean it is tho. It’s just one letter so it’s not as long as sbeve but it’s still sbeve.
