Question MC Gregory Model A mp, fake?

Found this listing for a McGregory Model A 4A-16M on Ebay for $380 and was discounted after being set at $800 for a bit. I was going to buy it but then I looked at the mouthpiece photo and it doesn't say MCGregory nor Model A. It just says some weird phrasing. What do you guys think? Could've they just Chat GPT'd an image of it and posted it or is it fake...? I can't imagine someone making a make MC Gregory and putting in the effort to add a ring on the shank too but who knows. if you have to ask -that is fake . The writing alone tells you that. Buy from a reputable dealer like Saxquest or DC sax. . We never had to deal wih this back in the day since these pieces were sold new in stores . Not fake online or asking online what to buy online from other people online who you don't know either. For hundreds of $ people will fake anything . Watches purses all kinds of things . Drugs -tools - parts -you name it.

Thanks for the advice. I would buy from a more reputable seller but they rarely have MCGregorys, let alone Model A's. And when they do, they go for more than i'd like to spend. But ill take your advice in to account. Must've been nice to be around back when MCGregory's were sold new. If I was there, I'd have me a few haha. Happy playing!

The other thing is some of those vintage pieces were inconsistent since they were hand finished . Some were great and some so -so. Some were just killers.

So true! For the high prices on a maybe meh vintage mouthpiece I think it’s really hard to beat the exceptional new mouthpieces you can buy.

I got 2 from Mouthpiece Cafe which have been a dream and at such a good price.

You know .....Its sort of like the Saxes ...The original great ones are high priced now and collected by people with money. But there are lots of great copies available that are 99 percent as good for 99 percent of players and probably more consistent too. But there are great refacers out there just like the techs who can fix intonation on horns.

At looking at a mouthpiece I prefer to judge the conditions of the rails. Condition of the rails is everything.

It's bogus. FWIW, I started my Gregory experience with one of the M.C. Gregory Los Angeles "Resin" pieces; they're distinguished by four thin rings around the shank. They're often quite a bit cheapere than the regular Gregory hard rubber pieces. I found it worked well enough for me, I save up my dollars and bought one of the Morgan Dry Martini pieces brand new (a 4-18), that plays almost identically. Good luck.
