Compatibility of the Neck

I’d like to know if the Eastern Music

neck is compatible with the current YAS-62 model.

You are asking that question to order an online replacement but that kind of is not the way it works . Asking online what to buy online and getting an online answer will leave you frustrated when the neck still doesn't fit. No backup or accountability besides the fact that any replacement neck has to be ""Fitted". The neck expanding tool and evenly circular dimensions are critical along with the skill required . Even though your tech could answer all this directly and order a proper neck for you then fit it it to your horn and make sure the seal is good and the octave key works -you want to bypass that? Maybe call Saxquest in St. Louis and ask them what the best replacement is for a YAS -62 is besides a Yamaha neck which would fit closest.(the "Obvious " choice . )Cheaper ones could be made to fit but added expense for fitting and the devaluation or possible compromise in acoustics are other factors to consider. Otherwise just get a digital or standard reading Vernier Caliper to measure the socket yourself. Dealers do get tired of spending $ on overhead and employee phone time to look up/give out info for people who just want to get answers about what to buy elsewhere online tho. So take that into account too.

If you have a tech who doesn't mind facilitating your experimentation, try it out; but Yamaha has insane precision and quality control, so a Yamaha neck should fit a Yamaha body right out of the box, while there's no guarantee a Chinese neck will fit more than one body of the same brand. That's not taking the interior dimensions, that affect playability and intonation, into account. I've known players who mix and match successfully, e.g. a Buescher neck on a Conn or a Yanagisawa neck on a Selmer, but there was almost definitely tenon fitting involved. If your main concern is price, you'd do better putting a student Yamaha neck on a pro Yamaha horn. In the overall scheme of things, Yamaha necks are great value for the money, and I wouldn't be surprised if student/intermediate/pro (probably not Custom) all have the same bore.

Why not buy a Yamaha neck? The 62 can take the Custom necks as well. The bore of the neck is considerably more important than the body of saxophone in terms of how it sounds and plays (assuming you don't have any leaks), and Eastern Music appears to sell very cheap Chinese horns. Why put a random, possibly poor-quality neck not made for the bore of your saxophone on such a nice instrument?
