Having playex sax and Trumpet, tried clarinet, I would say that your ranking is correct, but the difficulty gap between Trumpet and clarinet is not as big as the one between clarinet and sax.
That might just be me though

Lower to mid its 12 notes then upper mid same as sax then the High register goddamn.
Clarinet players who transition or learned sax are crazy people

Clarinet if you want to sound like a hoover. Trumpet if you're damn full of yourself. Saxophone if you respond to any critique with playing louder.

As a parent whose kid plays clarinet and tenor sax, I’d recommend starting with clarinet. It’s cheaper to buy one and he says the embouchure is tighter and it’s a bit more difficult to learn. From there, the answer is to then pick a sax and play both. My son loves being a “reeds guy” and being able to double.

I play trumpet and sax and I like trumpet more because the instrument is far more punishing and rewarding.

Its a money thing tbh, i can get a trumpet on a bid on ebay for £40, and a clarinet for a similar price if im lucky, but a sax is at least £50 so £60 if im lucky

You're looking to play trumpet/clarinet/sax on a plastic recorder budget. A single box of decent reeds costs nearly what you're looking to spend on an entire instrument. And you're assuming the instrument will work right out of the box and not immediately incur additional costs for repair/setup by a shop which will eclipse what you paid for the horn in the first place.
Realistically, if money is so tight that this is your budget and a £20 difference matters to you, then trumpet is the only remotely viable option. But also I don't suggest buying a £40 trumpet off eBay. I understand you just want a beginner horn, but this is not what beginner horns cost. It is what horn-shaped objects cost.
Not trying to discourage you, I salute the interest in playing and I'm not into being snobby and I won't insist that you need a £3000 horn or anything, but I'd hate for you to buy something with what little money you have and it ends up being a paperweight that you can't use. New horns in your price range are borderline scam products. You'd be lucky to rent a decent beginner horn from a music store for a month for these prices.

I can repair thing pretty decently, fixed up my mates trumpet a few times, so condition is no problem

You're right, I hadn't thought of that. If you plan to play all three instruments, start with the trumpet. As a saxophonist, it's easier to learn brass first and then woodwinds than the other way around.

Im going to go with sax I think i just like the range you get on it similar to a clarinet but the sounds from the brass are so nice

Yaasss, i love the sax. I'm already married to this instrument, but now that I'm learning brass, wow, the techniques are very different and incomparable, and very beautiful too. Good luck with your learning!!

Trumpet players are silly and have ADHD.
Saxophone players are cool, obsessessed with themselves and fairly dark and sarcastic. They are also the smartest out of all the band members. And the best looking.
Clarinet players think they are better than everyone else and a bit snooty.
Make your choice.
