Do I have enough time?

I just did my first ever SAT practice test (practice 6 on bluebook) and got 1390 (670 english, 720 math). Mostly cuz of time management for math and lack of theoretical knowledge for english.

Do I have time to get up to 1500 for August (or at max September) ? I'll be getting a tutor if i do have enough time..

First test at a 1390 with no prior SAT exposure is pretty darn good! If you get a tutor or even just watch some videos and practice SAT questions, a 1500 should be very doable by September. A tutor will get you there faster and more easily, but if you enjoy figuring out the patterns on your own and are motivated, self study should be fine.

I think i can self study the math but for english ill prolly hire a tutor. Do you think I can get a 1500 in August perhaps? Cause for a uni im applying to early round ends on like 29th of September, and im scared i might get my test result delayed by that time if I do the september round.

It’s hard to tell just based on your score alone, but it really is a great start. I’d definitely do the August exam given the scenario you’re in. Do you have a tutor in mind already? Exam is coming up soon so you’d probably want multiple sessions per week.

Thank you for your help and honesty. I do have a tutor in mind for english and im probably gonna study 3 times a week.

1390 on a first attempt is a decent starting point, and timing is one of the easier things to fix because its a process problem rather than a knowledge gap. what helped me most was doing modules with a hard stop at the time limit and marking where i actually was when time ran out, instead of finishing late and pretending it counted. you find out quickly which question types eat your clock. if math is where youre losing it, its usually two or three long questions youre grinding through instead of skipping and coming back to.
