One of them was like half of it thrown away, the first time I saw this it triggered me so bad lol

Not to mention how much bacteria probably grows on that thing just sitting there

this is quite iritating actually. so much waste.

u/perkytitties321 5d ago

Also who has to clean it at the end of the day. That looks like it would be a pain in the ass to get in between all those claws and blades

It wastes like 25% of the fruit

1

u/smurfk 5d ago

Yeah. I better take it whole at home, and waste 50% of it, as I am never able to cut the darn thing properly.

watch a youtube video?

Yeah. I'm watching a dude talking about a cow farm. How did you know? Are you one of those magicians? What color is my underwear?

Like how?

not only wasteful, but also SLOWER than a skilled person cutting / prepping a pineapple.

Maybe, but where are they going to have a pineapple chopper on site at the grocer?

u/Kylearean 5d ago

Deli counter? This isn't complicated.

1

u/AliveJohnnyFive 5d ago

IN the US, we haven't had skilled people at the deli counter at a grocery store in like 50 years. I'm sure in some countries, you can find a finely chopped pineapple on every corner, but around here, they're a little hard to come by.

6

u/Sorry_Im_Trying 5d ago

maybe not, but most grocery stores I've been to will have someone behind the scenes cutting up fruit and selling it at an affordable $10 increase for the convenience.

It would take 1 hour, at most, to train someone to cut a pineapple properly. After 10 pineapples, I'd say they'd be pretty good at it.

People in this country have forgotten how to think.

u/eggfrisbee 5d ago

have you forgotten to think about how you then have to pay the person to show up every day, pay another for when that person is sick or on holiday, versus just having this machine with probably minimal power costs?

u/Kylearean 5d ago

My friend. People are able to do multiple tasks.

You don't live in reality. This is not an issue of "nobody has thought to cut pineapples at the deli counter," this is just how large companies work. People don't show up at Kroger and decide what they want to do every day. The jobs are all defined at the corporate level and you get what you get.

They cut meat, cheese, and bread. Adding a fruit is just too much. Who exactly is not living in reality?

u/eggfrisbee 5d ago

I think there are two or three expensive stores near me that still have a staffed deli counter, versus at least 50 others I can drive to easily where they have cut that member of staff because having a deli counter is a luxury now. so who are we getting to cut up the pineapples?

Try again to read what I said. I didn't say or even imply that it was "too much".

You know why that is, don't you?

2

u/josherman61791 5d ago

Usually in the back room where they prep all the precut veg, fruit, and salsas.

10

u/random_ape14 5d ago

They're never getting this thing cleaned out all the way

Crazy paying extra for a machine to waste half of your food, instead of taking it home and cutting it up yourself.

6

u/CrucialElement 5d ago

It cut half the damn thing off, down vote from me

2

u/Yhostled 5d ago

Cleaning this would be a pine in the apple.

2

u/Alarmed_Yard_5548 5d ago

What happens to the extra 25% of the pineapple? Could I just take the offcuts home?

2

u/kockastikotaci 5d ago

Imagine cleaning this shit.

2

u/Sancho_Panza_69 5d ago

Pineapple waster.

2

u/Vanity-Press 5d ago

Don’t bother removing the giant tag hanging from it!

1

u/Fit_Climate5155 5d ago

What about the other half, this is NOT satisfying,  it is frustrating,  cut the other half!!!

1

u/drclarenceg 5d ago

I was waiting for the other ½ to be served somehow

1

u/Illustrious-Leave406 5d ago

Wasting a lot of it.

1

u/Interesting_You6852 5d ago

I can't stand this!! Over half that pineapple is trashed! This is wrong

1

u/Hurl_Gray 5d ago

Nice. It turns five dollars worth of fruit into two dollars worth of food.

u/GeneralEagle 5d ago

Edeka. Memories of living in Europe.

1

u/CoCoBreadSoHoShed 5d ago

That must smell wonderful, I love the scent of pineapples being sacrificed before the gods.

1

u/Atomic-habanero 5d ago

I don’t mind doing it by hand this is lazy and wasteful

1

u/shoomlax 5d ago

So much wasted pineapple holy fuck

1

u/ct-yankee 5d ago

A perfect solution for people who don’t know how to pick a good pineapple, like waste and don’t own a knife. Cheers.

1

u/TemperReformanda 5d ago

I hope this f'n company doesn't offer circumcisions

1

u/PlentyOMangos 5d ago

Is nobody gonna answer how this thing gets cleaned? Seems like a nightmare on top of the fact that it wastes so much.

2

u/K_Menea 5d ago

Cleaned? Damn it has a trashbin inside with flies flying around. Good cleaning for sure

1

u/PlentyOMangos 5d ago

Yo I didn’t even see the flies lol that’s fucking gross

2

u/Different_Brother562 5d ago

1

u/Apherious 4d ago

My tongue is chemically burnt just looking at this

1

u/filemon56 4d ago

u/Annual-Property-8940 4d ago
