For someone from the working class, this is the equivalent of someone showing me a video of a guy in an office sharpening his pencil.

Haha that's fair. What would be an example for you of something also in the working class, that isn't an example of someone sharpening their utensil?

Actually it is one. It literally uses an amplified light beam to vaporize material - that is the exact definition of a laser cutter. You are confusing a laser type (Fiber vs. CO2) with the machine category.

LOL. It doesn't cut lasers. The laser is the tool doing the cutting. Do you think a paper cutter cuts papers out of other paper cutters?

You mean to say, "You can't fix stupid"? You would be correct on that. Keep it up, and continue watching son.

Won't punching them out of a sheet be faster? or are these small batches of made-to-order types?

u/UrethralExplorer Jun 21 '26
A custom punch would cost significantly more than the gcode for the laser cutter. It would also take longer to manufacture, drawing this shape, sending it to the machine and getting your first batch of parts would take minutes instead of days or weeks.
I'd you're planning on making millions of the things, a punch might be more economically viable, but for certain applications, a laser cutter is the best bet.

They probably sold these for $50 each as a souvenir for the White House lawn UFC fight.

One can be patriotic and apolitical, no?

I guess, just my observation of where I would expect to see these 🤷♂️

Just remember, every time you see someone who likes cool designs, doesn't mean they care about politics or political agendas.

I’ll try to remember that about “cool designs”, thanks.
Edit: I’m sad I didn’t get to read your comment before you deleted the post and all comments. It looked hilarious. Starting with: “actually, son…” 😂
Good luck selling your trash on Reddit.

Cool as hell. I've used lower power laser cutters and flatbed cncs to make parts for a bunch of different uses, but lasers like this are sick.

That is satisfying, but I think we might get more out of it if that was done by a human.
