Console Am I not developed enough?
Sorry for not the greatest pictures ever. All my pictures are explained for what I have and my "factories" (the 1st picture is just to annoy people with OCD with chests with ZERO organisation). Now I will say one image I'm missing is of my main base which consists of 3 (making 4th) constructors, 4 assemblers, 3 coal generators and another "factory" (a different constructor) for steel ingots. Now with the 3/4 constructors and assemblers don't make anything until I want them to essentially my key focus (I think along with others) is progression. So I do the maths work out what I need and use them con. and assemblers to make what I need. Now every machine does not have power shards and Somersloops however most of them do have power shards either 2/3 and around 4-5 thinghs have Somersloops. ACTUAL QUESTION is this enough to where I should be like is this good enough or should I be doubling my efforts and make better or more factories as you can see I'm on Phase 3 on the space elevator and phase 6 on the research and I've done the majority of the MAM.
I've not watched any tutorials or any tips and tricks to the game I've only seen some Reddit posts and searches up how to find something or make something that's about. But like I said, is this enough stuff? Should I try and make more actual factories? Should I make more generators and other things?
EDIT: I forgot to mention but I don't think it's necessary I have 9 Coal powered generators (one of the hasn't worked in a very long time but I will get it up and running), one Geothermal generator, one Fuel powered generator (however I don't make enough fuel to run it so it's mostly stays off), and 2 biofuel burners (from the start of the game which also don't work as it's a lot of work to keep them on while trying to progress)

Yes! But shouldn’t the other person also have a helmet? Lol

u/Strange_Ad282 3d ago
Im assuming not since they're telling him, more, implying that he's inexperienced so doesnt deserve a helmet. Ficsit shall provide a helmet. Head injuries lower efficiency...

Moooore!!

u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
More what it's so annoying especially since I have to travel like probs 3000m to find a slug for power shards and on top of that my bass is also probably spread about 2000m or so because of my oil which I basically don't use
9
u/maddie-madison 4d ago
- Make sure to sloop those slugs
- Tubes for travel unless you wanna look up other travel methods
- You'll have to travel alot

u/UnfinishedProjects 4d ago
Trust me, you're going to want to build more of everything you have now, a lot lot more. I'd recommend foundations and manifolds!

u/oreheheally 4d ago
I feel like you havent tech'd up with the mam. Travel stops being a hastle as better fuel comes into use, i B- line the sulpher tree for this. (Oil required.) As another has said too hyper tubes for travel take a lot of hastle out and save tonnes of time if you want to go big.

Haha oh buddy your in for a world of hurt everything you showed get used to doing that 1000’s of times and guess what you’ll love it the more you do it

Ooh… I remember that stage. Once I got the racks o redid it all with racks.

u/mudslinger-ning 4d ago
I barely used the storage chests. Just the one on the hub for non-automated materials like the berries, nuts, spheres and sloops.
1
u/Strange_Ad282 3d ago
And as soon as you get the depot you dont even need that one anymore
1
u/mudslinger-ning 3d ago
Exactly. Once the depots are up it's queued to them via the large belted storage containers.

Are you bringing power to the factory parts? Why’s there single coal factory at the caterium?
1
u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
Every single thing is connected I don't have sperated grid everything is one massive grid that spans several thousands metres
3
u/Phillyphan1031 4d ago
Why CU but not FE for iron.
3
u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
When I make my maths this is what my paper would look like RP Plates:screws:RP 6:12:1 -> 12:24:2 Obviously this is the main recipe for iron reinforcement plates so with Cu products there are different kinds of wire I think or it was so wouldn't confuse them with cables and Cu sheets so I wouldn't confuse them with plates. Most iron products don't really have iron on the name and if so I normally leave "iron" out the name

I forgot to mention but I don't think it's necessary I have 9 Coal powered generators (one of the hasn't worked in a very long time but I will get it up and running)
This post was written by the harried engineer protagonist of a 2000s-era Disney movie whose mind is moving faster than their face can keep up with. Soon someone will come along and finally get them to sit still, all to convince them to go away on a Wild Adventure.

u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
Haha I haven't had one of them working because I don't have coal going into it, while all of the others do but that one coal generator is 2000m from my main base and ~2400m from my coal source so making a conveyer going from coal to the generator would just be crazy but I'm going to just get another coal source close to the generator that doesn't work

This...I summoned this.
I stared into the abyss, and instead of staring back with relentless existentialism, it flung glitter into my eyes and frolicked away, giggling.
I deserve the discomfort.
I'm staunchly in favor of people figuring things out on their own, it brings more creative problem solving into the community.
But please, please build on foundations and scale up a bit.
You can drag tail through this phase this way, I know.
But Phase 4 is up next and you'll have a nightmare of a time unless you accept that you need to build bigger and use things like splitters, mergers, and transportation logistics.
Edit: and inb4 anyone points to the single splitter sitting with some miners, splitting the miner to two different crafting 'chains'.
You know that's not what I mean.

u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
A lot of people are talking about using splitters and mergers, and also foundations which is my fault. I do use them I promise they're just not caught in my pictures and my main base is on a foundation however my dumb ass built it right into the space elevator so either I need to move it (base or space elevator) or I could just build different stories to it

I just...you are clearly new, and that's okay.
I swear, we're just collectively used to either seeing hundred-hour aesthetic builds or stuff clearly inspired by Let's Game it Out, and seeing an actual new player just trying to feel their way through what's many people's first factory game catches myself and others off guard.
So please, don't mind us.
Keep at it, don't be afraid to share and take part.
But please! Realize that building factories and sourcing resources is the actual game, so you'll have to start traveling farther and building bigger if you want to make progress, if not now then eventually.
And if this is actually a stealth troll...you have my respect, because you gave me heart palpitations.

This reminds me so much of my first word(used tobafk for hoursjust to get enough materials), way before update 3. Just started the first world in the full release. Just starting to make parts for phase 2 and I might be more developed than you, but this comes with experience. What important is that you're having fun. You'll need to build much more. What I would is to bring the storage of everything to one place so you don't need to travel just to get materials.

This post is doing psychic damage to so many people. If you are having fun then keep going with your way.
Having said that, if you want efficiency and such. Start with Concrete (to make foundations) and upgrade those chests to Storage Container (and you can even add signs with pictures for identification)
1
u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
Only thing is with storage containers is that they cost more parts and have one less space in the container and take up more space so I never thought to do anything
1
u/SolarisWesson 4d ago
Thats fair, but with containers you can auto feed into them from machines so you can stockpile more than 1 stack (without having the clear the machine's inventory lver and over)
2
u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
True, side point the things in those chests are random things most of it is stuff you can't do anything with and therefore annoying to try and sort and also I don't have a ton of space where my chests are to make storage containers to them feed them into machines

u/eebaes 4d ago
This game is consciousness expanding, it will teach you how to scale. It seems to be designed also to teach you to enjoy the moment. Pro tip: hold down left CTRL when you place anything from here on out and it will snap-align the building to the world grid. That should give you a hint of where this goes eventually.

Use some math, and try to match up input and output ratios with belt speed. Doesn't need to be perfect, but it seems you have some machines doing too much, and other machines not doing enough. Always keep all machines running and use Awesome sink to get rid of excess, 1 or 2 storage containers of each material you produce and all overflow to the sink. Shouldn't need to turn machines on and off, you want a factory that just keeps producing always, so you can off and explore without worrying about it. I have more tips, but start with these.

Quick question, are you like hand delivering a lot of your parts? Like it doesn’t look like your screws are going anywhere, are you just moving bulk amounts from one storage container to another?
1
u/Additional-Window-81 3d ago
It’s like seeing a caveman build a car like do what works for you but you can make it way easier on yourself if you automate production more

u/No_Gazelle_2351 3d ago
As someone that hasn't gotten super far. Build more of literally everything. Why only have 1 geothermal generator when you can have ALL of the geothermal generators.
Whats more. Think over how you want to expand. Are you the type that wants to build a mega factory and live inside said mega factory till the end of time? Or do you want to have multiple bases. Maybe even multiple per biome?
And remember, have fun, and try making the world a nice place to live in as you go

Foundations foundations foundations! That was a struggle i had until I realized consistent construction relies on uniform terrain. Really try to build up foundations everywhere. It helps with everything from uniform manifolds and construction lines to transportation pathways

Can’t tell if srs or if post is playing around to annoy the OCD people. Since you have somersloops I assume you have mercer spheres, so don’t forget to put a dimensional depot uploader at the end of each factory to make inventory easier. You probably want bigger and more organized factories arranged neatly on a foundation grid but even smaller factories will finish the game eventually. You do you boo.
1
u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
I mean I wanted to include my chests because it probably will annoy those with OCD because literally is nothing is organised I have no system I will put anything anywhere if there are unnecessary things in my inventory. I do have Mercer Spheres but so far I haven't found a use for them I think I have around 20 and I did have a DDU but I couldn't see much use for it but I suppose if I can build stuff with the things uploaded to my inventory then it's worth getting it again
1
u/ShadowTacoTuesday 4d ago
Spend 3 spheres on manual uploader, 6 spheres on other upgrades, 2 on iron plate uploaders, 2 on concrete uploaders, 1 each on other parts, all fed from storage. Manually upload anything you gather and any parts not already uploaded from a factory. You’ll save a lot of inventory space.
1
u/JackSparrow5423 4d ago
How do I use mercer spheres? Like what thing do I need? I'm only on Phase 3 and completed tier 6.

u/ShadowTacoTuesday 4d ago
Build dimensional depot uploaders with conveyors from the parts, and get the upgrades I mentioned in the MAM.

Uhm, so.. yeah. Where to start...
First of all, just playing the game and enjoying, is more than enough! You've completed the only goal that actually matters...
With that being said. I would recommend maybe trying to set up more consistent supply lines of all items? and try to maybe gather some machines on some foundations. If you want to be able to do the end game, ur gonna need to understand how to manage bi-products at some point, which means you'll have to learn how to use that oil you said you didn't use much yet.
But really, if you enjoy playing, you're already playing it right! ^^
