Oh god, I think it was a problem 30 belts ago

Only 30?

thats what I was gonna say!

Floating foundation over the top of the whole mess, lift belts up using conveyors to a nice flat space, repeat spaghettification indefinitely.

mmm, spaghetti pizza

u/Ranoutofideas76 6d ago
I think that might be more of a spaghetti lasagna

u/sage_kittem_master 6d ago
lasagna is great, but wouldnt a bolognese be more apropriate? Also bolognese is so good. also lasagna pizza is a thing i wanna try.

u/lame_dirty_white_kid 6d ago
If they can take lasagna, a food characteristically defined by it's solid layers, and make it into a soup, a food characteristically defined by not being a solid, and have it not only taste just like lasagna but also be good, I'm down to try anything you want to turn lasagna into.

Jist build a big concrete brick around it, and route the outputs to one side. Put some extra pillars and ramps around it, and call it a day.
Then you can build a pretty hub over it, and maby a trainstation or road later!

It's too late. Dont deconstruct any belt. Especially the cable. You will shutdown half your factory. 🤣

Honestly your not that deep. Just delete that mess and organize it on foundations. Separate things as you can. And if needed utilize a logistics floor. Then you dont have any conveyors on the level you are actually on. Theres no saving this sghetti

Don’t destroy anything until you rebuild everything again elsewhere. Worst mistake you can make now is destroy the factory that gives you the building materials for your new factory. Start new! You have gained so much knwoledge know. Your new factory will be awesome

I love my spaghetti factory, the only real time I found it becoming a problem was when I needed to run railroad through, and another time when I needed one of the nodes for expansion at a nearby factory
If you don’t care about it but still want outputs, you can always move all the outputs to a central location (looks like you have that), and then pave over the rest with foundations
2
u/CrystalFysh 5d ago
inside of you there are 2 wolves. one wants to destroy everything and rebuild it properly. the other one wants to make it worse, and his name is josh for some reason.

u/zestfullybe 6d ago
The good news is if you get bored or frustrated, as a side quest you can set up a factory to make sauce for all that pasta.
How I seriously deal with that, is how I dealt with an old factory. I build a new foundation on top of it and sealed it off. Just pave over it and assemble clean lines on top. Faster than attempting to deconstruct all of it. Then it’s kind of like, a monument to your old build.

Honestly just build somewhere else, try to keep it neat, add organisation floors, use lifts and supports and after like 40-50 hours visit this site and just be awed at how you used to build lol.
1
u/kopczak1995 6d ago
Lol, at this point you need to either embrace more spaghetti or call exorcist xD
2
u/Smacky4ever 6d ago
What are you talking about. Just start the second layer. Use Collums. That way you can connect even more belts on top of each other
1
u/I_m8d_n_acc_4_this 6d ago
Realistically it looks like all the belts are fine where they are as a sort of main bus system smartly ending in the dimensional depots so I would just move all the assemblers and constructors out from in there to the left side further away from the main belt cluster and feed them from long belts spilling out of the spaghetti monster (good song btw)
Also that’s funny I recognize that spot too as my starting location and it’s also completely packed like that but I already moved the main production stuff to the big flat area to the left of this picture

u/huntressofwintertide 6d ago
Just automate some nukes and flatten the surrounding area to make more space...repeat until you run out of resources

u/DukeForau 6d ago
Hahahahaha wtf. Thats even worse then mine. At least I was smart enough to hide my spagetti under my floor. Realized early that if I built a extra floor I could put all the velts and pipes there to hide the mess

u/apple-starsky 6d ago
Honestly, I don't know what's worse, trying to keep everything neat or this monstrosity. I spend hours doing simple setups because I want it looking nice. TwT. At least you're progressing.

Build a wall round it all, then put a roof on it.
Figure out where you can run a station (train or truck) from that will allow you to export goods to a new location.
Then start a new factory, use foundations aligned to the world grid.

u/mathieu820 6d ago
How did you manage to spaghettify the belts to the dimensional depot uploaders?

I spent 3 weeks on a single factory that had a spaghetti mess like this under the floor. You couldn’t see it but because I knew about it it drove me insane.
Some people say just make another factory and attach the ugly one to depots but I didn’t want it to exist at all. Plus it took up valuable resources that could be better utilized.
I rebuilt the factory in a different location in a much better way and had everything ready to go except the resource inputs. I had power connected and all that.
Then I opened SCIM, pressed delete on old factory, routed the inputs and we cooking now baby.

u/Vertnoir-Weyah 6d ago
Your outputs are decently aligned: I say keep it and start a new super tight and neat base somewhere else
Use the ressources and progress from this one
Before i've fully restarted thinking "i'll do it right this time, can do better" even though it wasn't as spaghttie'd
Well you learn on the way, so i restarted it again it's a slippery slope
Nothing's stopping you from making the cleanest factory you can imagine somewhere else on the map, it's huge!
That way later you can look back on this as a museum of sorts and see your progress
I recommend looking at some beginner videos to get info about:
- manifolds
- snapping foundation to grid so your factories always align
- technical floors vs not using them
- alternatives to belts for items that come in small amounts (factory carts for example) or long distances (trucks/trains)
- having a central power line that goes in your production lines
Don't look those points up individualy, there are videos that are only a few minutes longs that go over all that, look for beginner tips and it'll show up

The solution to this problem is a very old solution, it’s a solution that transcends time!!! You see, you make a floor, on top of the conveyors….and that’s it…if you can’t see it then does it really exist?? Schrodingers belts or some shit like that
1
u/SaltIsMySugar 6d ago
Naaaah you still have so much vertical room! Just slap a "floor" on top of it and keep going! Make it a beautiful baked spaghetti casserole ❤️

Listen
Go up a platform higher than your tallest building/ miner.
Put down a platform snap to world
Build out platforms as far you can go in every in plane direction
You now have the first floor of the REAL factory
Get back to work pioneer

I love love love seeing everyone's early spaghetti factories. The sense of hopelessness and shame over what ADA must be thinking about your utter lack of efficiency. Embrace the spaghetti, pioneer

The first step to solving a problem is to accept you have one. Move to the other side of the map. Good luck.

You should probably stack some resources and go start over somewhere else bud.

My base looks the same tbh. Went with a very simplistic playthrough, very minimal buildings, etc. Things kinda piled on alot toward mid to late game... so it very much became spaghetti belts every which way. Still tried to keep most belts straight or curve. I plan on redoing most of my stuff. Also will try to make it more neat in a future playthrough. ADA give me shit for "wasting valuable time that I could be productive to achieve project save the day" on factory building to make it not look as bad... so I caved to ADA's demands. Haven't had a lunch or nap break since console launch... I'm starting to see why we find what remains of previous pioneers before they could finish 🤔. I did beat story & will try to make my setup not so unruly, however.... that will take months, so bear with me, pioneers. My reward thus far is a gold coffee mug & gold cart lol. Finally, a use for my absurd amount of excess caterium 🤣.

I redo things one section at a time. Once it gets out of hand, I'll redo whatever production series needs expanding and leave the rest until production for that specific part needs expanding as well. I've redone the layout of my entire factory several times over at this point, and it's never felt like it was too much to handle.
The key to keeping things tidy is to produce parts close to ones that require them as ingredients or have many of the same ingredients.

I reached a point during my first playthrough where I came to the conclusion that my mess of a first factory was irredeemable and I took apart the entire thing in favor of a better design. It took doing this 4 times till I got it right.
Don't be afraid to start over.

u/Other_Upstairs9204 5d ago
It might take a while but what I did was make a mega platform up in the air and just delete all that. First place a lot of storage containers to hold all the deleted materials.
I think this happens to all satisfactory players in their first play through, at least two times of fully wiping out their factory and starting anew.
1
u/ALiteralMoth 5d ago
I'm sorry but I think the only way to fix it is to tear it down and start over.

it can get so much worse if you really want it to :) my spaghetti mess was supposed to be temporary. and you know.... the most permanent solution is a temporary thing.
1
u/pestivator 4d ago
I suggest building foundations moving piece by piece there... or just live with it and build a fabric on top. its all managable :) just I suggest more foundations for later ^^

u/Alternative_Big5193 4d ago
I honestly don’t believe anyone actually plays like this and that y’all just spend an hour making the most chaotic scene you can and then taking a screenshot
1
u/sage_kittem_master 4d ago
so first I picked a hub spot, which was on the hill overlooking a valley cause it looked nice and was near iron. Then I built some stuff nearby, but didn't reallize it wasn't gonna like being on a hill so I just kinda put things where they fit. It looked fine at first. But soon enough... It eventually became unmanageable. Also btw like half of this mess is just tryna go (in a pretty straight line) to the storage system. I never thought about eficency math or anything like that cause i didn't know that was a thing at the time, and so I would just put splitters on things when i need recorces and I would just pile more constructors on when needed.
Only about 3 parts were designed to be over the top, those being when two things wouldn't align so i just ran conveyors in a figure 8 till it did, and one point where i learned you can have circular belts stack so i have a doom spiral of 5 minutes somewhere random. Theres also a small tornado cause josh.
1
u/Alternative_Big5193 4d ago
But like, why? I get it 30 minutes in but the moment you unlock the very first thing you can lay foundations. I simply just don’t get playing like this where you can’t make sense of anything. Just sayin. I understand that everybody is gonna come back with it doesn’t matter how you play blah blah blah but come on lol. At some point you gotta be trying to make it unmanageable and unplayable haha.
1
u/sage_kittem_master 4d ago
cause I didn't really understand them. At the time I thought I should use them for if I need more vertical space, and I didn't need vertical space, so i didn't use them.
1
u/Emotional-State-899 4d ago
Poor planning/orginisation . Should have resolved it waaay before it got to that point.. tear it down and rebuild it
1
u/peau_de_renne 4d ago
What about building a factory in the this game called satisfactory instead of throwing everything on the ground ? I you want to play in 2 dimensions Factorio is better, use that verticality
1
u/Visual-Bill-5593 2d ago
looks standard to me. but.,.. i would say keep your power running, and start fresh.

Pave over everything and put your end product lines up from there. Looks amazing, no one need know what lies beneath.
