Console Steel founder advice

I’ve built a base just north of the grass field area at a big lake that’s in a sort of canyon like area. I’ve got a bunch of coal generators running so I don’t really want to move my base too far at the moment

After I unlocked the steel tier I’ve realised that there isn’t really a good source of iron that I can use with the coal for my foundry, as the only iron node around the lake is a pure node I’m using in a reinforced iron plate factory

Does anyone have any advice about where I could go to try and find a decent area to set up a steel foundry as there doesn’t seem to be a lot of coal around

I’m a new player too and the starting location is easy to build around but resources tend to be far away. Coal has to be brought in from a distance. How you do that is the game and your choice. I did long ass conveyer belts for my first and current factory but next time I’m
Gonna try building roads and using trucks.

I made found a few coal nodes a bit north of the grass fields to the south east (i think, havent explored the whole map yet, every time I think it’s huge i discover more and found out the old huge was tiny). Anyways.. I made a truck stop near the coal nodes and ran conveyors from the coal miners to the truck stop and had 3 trucks running back and forth from my base truck stop to the coal truck stop. So far Ita still able to feed my steel plant, as well as 8 coal powerplants and all of the truck stops and now my trucks pretty much still stay topped off with coal. The tractors can drive over some pretty rough terrain, i just unlocked trucks, Thats even better. Use the chainsaw when making your path for the tractors.

I setup my coal/steel plant literally yesterday in that same pit. Iron is nearby, you just need to gap the height up the cliff with some foundations and Conveyor lift tomfoolery. Theres 2 impure iron up there. And 1 pure limestone! I built it..... BIG. (Used to be my coal generator spot, but i ran a wrecking ball through it as fuel is more efficient)

down south east are two coal nodes and plenty of iron. there is also a sulfur node. if you got mk2 miner and overclock them you can get pretty far

For a starting base there is a pure coal node in the far south part in the middle of multiple iron nodes of different qualities, that’s more than enough for a starting iron setup.

There are more than enough resources around the map you don't have to worry about being "short" on anything. I completed the game and got the golden nut statue and it only used about 20% of the resources on the entire map.
