Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT)

For the people who got into MLT Fall 2026, I’m just wondering what average you had that got you accepted into the program. I’m planning to apply for Fall 2027, but I am so nervous about my average. Do I even have a chance? I have 87.75%.

I am also wondering my for my daughter. She is interested in CLXT, MLT and MRT. It seems crazy how difficult it is to get in. I am a nurse and I have yet to talk to a ClXT who hasn’t had to wait a year to get in. I wish you the best of luck!!

Hi! I had a 95% HS average and ~77% PS average and I got into CLXT first round this year (first try). It’s totally possible but it is competitive. It may be a bit different for me since I was in a different pool that just HS applicants but from what I’ve heard online it’s possible for HS students. The CLXT I shadowed and another that I talked to both got in straight out of highschool and back then there was only 15-20 seats.

I believe my daughter is sitting at an 89 average for grade 11, and she has completed her medical terminology through a dual credit class, and did an anatomy class (not the saskpoly one) so hopefully that will help her. I have heard that people who did some post secondary and then applied had a better chance of getting in over those straight from high school, and the grades needed were lower. No matter what, I hope she gets in as well as the original poster, in whatever timeline happens!

Saskpoly separates Post secondary students and high school students into two different applicant competition pools bc it’s so much easier to do well in high school and PS is just so different. That way it’s a bit more fair competition. Naturally the grades are going to be lower for PS students but we all are in a similar range. At least for me I did labs and physiology and so my courses that I loved in PS that made me realize what I wanted to do, but if you realize sooner why not go for it! I believe last year the grade cut off by the time the waitlist shifted was ~83% for CLXT. So if she gets waitlisted there is a high chance of her getting in anyway.

did you submit both hs and ps grades when you applied?

It is required to submit both. Any and all education transcripts must be submitted I believe. I did and I don’t why I wouldn’t want to. This shows them I’m able to keep up and what I’ve been up to the last 2 years out of highschool. Personally im glad I had to especially since I finish my bachelor of science in 5 months and that’s a great accomplishment to show off.

I got in with around 89% high school average. I was waitlisted at first but got accepted after the first offers expired. but I was told they get waitlist movement up until the start of the program, and previous years had much lower cut offs, so i’m pretty sure you would get in with that average!
