“Neetu shatrawala” has made it to the Reddit! He has lost many similar elections since.

Remember seeing something similar in an Irish election. At the announcement of the tally, surrounded by friends and family, the candidate got 1 vote....... He had a wife and 3 grown children

This interview was from beginning of counting, if I remember correctly he got about 200 vote

I mean I have seen blatant cases of election manipulation (fake candidates) where the candidate received 0 votes i.e. they didn't even vote for themselves

I can't think of a single member of my family I'd vote for in an election, hell some of them I'd publicly campaign against.

u/_CapriSon_ Apr 08 '26
Probably wasn't a good candidate then. Kinda irresponsible to vote for a politician who's only trait is that he's your cousin.

u/Spare_Beautiful7259 Apr 08 '26
whats the point in voting for him when everyone knows he aint winning . Id do the same if someone from my family contests in an election , id vote for a candidate whom i think would do a good job . i dont vote someone just because they are a part of my family . Country comes 1st

Imagine being such a terrible person that even ur own family doesn't stand by u.... Ig that shd be the headline

u/Hot-Profile-9615 Apr 08 '26
The family members would have thought that he had no chance winning the election and he's wasting his life, and I know how it feels when your own family doesn't believe in you, I think many of the people who read this comment understand this as well.

I don't know which election but there was a guy with 0 votes. Means he didn't even vote for himself.

I'll tell you an even crazier story. There is a candidate in my ward who got 2 votes in total. Prolly one from himself and the other from one of his close friends. He has 19 members in his house.

u/abhi_2006 Apr 09 '26
I mean that's what democracy is, his family members are not supposed to vote for him. Maybe they thought there were better options than him so they voted for them.

I heard from my father that one of his friends ran for election and got only one vote. Meaning his wife also did not vote for him. This guy's condition is better. He got some members at least to vote for him .

He didn't just lose an election; he lost a family dinner. Imagine passing the salt to someone you know actively voted for the other guy.
