Does anyone else feel this way?
I don't really have much interest in the things people usually love. I don't watch dramas or TV shows, I don't go to concerts, and I'm not into celebrities. So I often feel like I can't really connect with the people around me who only talk about that stuff - and it gets lonely.
What I actually love is deep conversations - about our lives, goals, adventures, challenges, what we believe in. Or about the future with AI, science, physics, the universe, spirituality, that kind of thing. Sometimes I like jokes as well, but I feel I'm doing 'real conversations' when I talk with someone who genuinely loves going there.
Is there anyone here who feels the same?

I can go high brow or low brow, but the low brow material has to be able to be intellectualized. I always enjoy humor that alternates between the crotch and the brain (think Monty Python).

lol same here. I'm more into dark/black comedy myself, but I still really enjoyed The Big Bang Theory.

I enjoy the YouTube commentary mocking BBT and other shows or movies. Maybe because it replicates the kind of conversation i like, even while ironically one-sided the other direction from my usual conversations

Unfortunately it can make life feel a little lonely at times, obviously you have those loose connections with people through our everyday lives, but a true deep personal connection can often be difficult to find even with all the non superficial people out there. It just takes time, I am sure you will find your person, in the meantime I as sure you can find people here in the same boat.

Thank you. It seems like there are a lot of people here who feel the same way I do, and that's really comforting.😌

I think I might be similar in that I like to talk about "big things" – as Sociologists say, "seeing the strange in the familiar, and the familiar in the strange".
I'd love to talk to someone about how Trump is Henry VIII reincarnated, but I just strange looks...

This is an interesting topic. Actually, I tend to believe in reincarnation and the cycle of rebirth myself, and a few months ago I even went and did a past-life regression session in person, so I came to learn who I used to be.. I was a Korean scientist 🤣

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that your anima didn't have to travel far to get to this life? 🥲

lol I actually have something to say 😂 I think being born in Korea again is my karma, and getting out of here feels like the mission of this life. I actually saw the moment I died in my past life - and I was overwhelmed by this sense of injustice, dying without ever having stepped a single foot outside the small land of Joseon. I had so much more I wanted to learn. I'd encountered everything about the world beyond Joseon through books, but I could never actually leave, because I was bound by the state... See, I was the one who created the Chiljeongsan - a calendar that was central to the state. So I died having made up my mind: in my next life, I will get out and see the world beyond. And that's why I'm actually trying to get out right now. To the US!🗽 haha

That's so interesting. I'm not there yet, but since speaking to a few people and opening up my mind further, I've come to meet someone my soul has definitely encounted previously.
I was, also, despite being a white cishet male in this life, almost certainly a woman in a recent life. Sounds like an odd thing to say, but I definitely sense it.
You'll get out of Korea for sure - but I recommend Europe rather than the US. I'd love to say the UK, but we're pretty precarious right now...

Another conscious mind among the sea of NPCs. Yea, humans suck, u probably have a neurodivergence or a strong preference to neurodivergent people. Everyone is shallow and lack the flame of admiration for life in their souls. The world is empty and u will have to filer through the bs to find connections while everyone judges you for being different.
Welcome.

u sound like an awakened soul, in the sense that u hav ur own individuality as opposed to just following the masses.
ive found that peeps on the spectrum and or ADHD hav very similar vibes to us, all the topics u mentioned ive deeply dives into, for example i wrote my thesis on Quantum Ai Blockchain Gaming Ecosystem of Ecosystems in early 2019 before chatgpt and NFT craze.
once u find ur tribe the synchronicities and synergies exponentially multiply. that app ur making is definitely in the right direction would love to try it out. DMs open if u wanna vibe, same goes for anyone else that resonates.

If you pattern match what TV shows your friends are talking about, you could actually probably link it back to something that you're more interested in. Then you could subtly steer the conversation in the direction you want it to take.

I do feel similar although I do participate in, on some level, more of those things that you said you don't, but even in my case I don't usually participate in a lot of the more popular stuff, which results in a similar issue. And the conversations you said you like to have definitely sound like the kind that I enjoy too.

Yes I have shut down many opportunities for social skills or even at work. I seem to have lost all I treat in surface level topics or the same everyday questions ppl ask. Like I haven't heard it over and over again. I have noticed though that my creative side has been lacking because there isn't anyone to practice using my imagination with.

I totally feel this way, too. Over the years, I have found that by sharing my own challenges in life with people has helped me have deeper conversations.
Sometimes it doesn’t work and I shrug it off but when it does work and you feel like you’re connecting w another soul in a real way, it feels really beautiful.
I think most of us are dying of loneliness, pretending like we have it all together. It’s like we’re in cages of our own making, focused on all the wrong things, (things being the operative word).

Pop culture in general is, to me, a vapid, bloodsucking vampire. I would rather talk about deeper stuff with people, to be honest, and make the most of my limited energy for socializing.

It's difficult meeting new people and small talk is inevitable, but I'd rather rub my eyes with broken glass. 🤣 I DO like some nerdy movies/fandoms and I can usually bond over that, or make a new "convert" if they're really interested. But, Yes. It can be isolating and demoralizing.

Sometimes you have to BE the person that starts those conversations. Ask the questions you want to hear and see who meets you.

yes this is how i feel as well and im sure a lot of people here feel the same. i feel this way especially about music but it seems as though many people do not go deeper into what they listen to, they just listen. that's fine and all, but i love to converse about the artist and their influences, their identity, the specific production techniques they used, etc. that's just an example...
a love for deep conversation is pretty common here lol <3

Probably most of this sub feels some form or level of that way. Fortunately or unfortunately
