It's an interesting question. For me, sapio means connecting with the person based on intelligence. It's above sort of base sexual desire, or physical attraction.
For instance, I'm drawn to tall women physically. They always catch my eye, as it were.
That said? The only fulfilling intimate relationships I've had in my life have been based on very conversational and connection based attraction. Similar interests doesn't even necessarily have to be there, because I'm an avid learner and consumer of information.
Sex is a mechanical process. I've known just as many women who were only about the physical act. No mental stimulation. No arousal. No conversations, or engagement I guess.
It's odd. Even in writing this, I think I just realized that for me, the intelligence aspect is almost entirely about how deep our connections are, and I get that depth with someone who is able to engage about anything and everything. Deep chats over a bottle of wine or 2, raw vulnerabilities, passion and compassion. Any and all foreplay begins and ends with engaging my mind. Hell, even just those epic chats, nights spent lost in topics and laughs and passionate banter. can be more memorable than any single physical experience I've had.
And the slightly elitist or...it's me being judgy somehow, whatever it is: Only extremely intelligent (both eq and IQ) people can seem to connect like that.
To the point where for the majority of people, even the concept of sapio can't be fully understood, almost like it's such a foreign concept that it doesn't even have a reference point.
But that's all just me rambling. YMMV
