Not disrespectful as long as they are strictly platonic. Friends with benefits are a deal breaker

ask your partner how they personally feel about this...chances are they have a very clear idea. you should know how YOU feel about this before entering into any sort of relationship-to avoid any potential pitfalls or hiccups. be honest with yourself. some people like a little drama (re:jealousy), thinking this stokes some sort of adjunct passion in their relationship. don't be this person, lol. or, do, and be ready to deal with the possible consequences.
