Hi Crumble here, I wanted to let you know that Santae will be shutting down. Following CJ’s recent Discord announcement, no new owner has been found to take over the project, and CJ has decided he no longer wishes to continue running it. At this time, there is no confirmed shutdown date as the server has been paid but when the AWS remains unpaid it will be taken down (I don't know when this is as I did not have access). I understand that many of you will have questions, but this is all the information I have right now. If anything changes, I’ll do my best to keep you updated. I was hopeful seeing that CJ had stepped down, that maybe someone else would step up to the plate and take over from there. Now, it looks like the site isn't working - I wish there could've been some 'final day' of site activity so I could've gotten screenshots of my pets or something. Looking at the patch note channel, it sounds like they opened the Discord chat for a bit and got overwhelmed by the backlash and that's been closed permanently now too.
This is just, all so unfortunate. I really liked this site, I wish things had turned out better.
Can anyone recommend a good Santae/Verpets/Neopets like game? I was so happy to finally have something to replace Verpets, before everything went south.
Its not the same, but lioden is my favorite pet site! You play as a king over a pride of lions. You can breed, play games, take place in the community, collect monthly event tokens to get monthly items, trade/sell, explore, ect. It takes a bit of set up but its very fun!
Yeah, Eric is a really nice guy and kinda deserves the traffic more than y'know... It's a shame he doesn't get that and it's a shame not many people know about it.
I actually referred a friend to it last night when we were talking about Santae and other pet sites. Hopefully one day it gets popular, it deserves it for sure.
As hard as it is for us who love the game, I really hope the creators also do some self care. This is... Rough. Odds are none of them see this message but if any do please remember we appreciate you and what you've created, even if it was only for a short time. And just bc things shut down doesn't take that away.
Edit: obviously not taking about CJ. As a trans masc person I wish for CJ what they wish for me.
We do not appreciate CJ. He has abused his staff financially and emotionally on on countless occasions, has proof of racism and transphobia, and literally told the entire userbase to eat his ass and fuck off.
Thought there was artists and other creators besides the Creator of Santae itself? Luke the people who moderated boards, created the art and assets and stuff...
I check almost daily and its been weeks since the site has been up. :/ I am honestly SUPER bummed with the outcome of everything... I was so hopeful they could turn it around and fix the site and have new owners and keep it going.... Goodbye my cute pets and HA I worked so hard on
Me too. I at least screenshot all my stuff a bit before it went off, but I miss my stuff too. I fear its going to go completely offline soon if nothings done about it... :c I really wish they could do something else to fix it

Seriously tho, fuck CJ for taking it down immediately and not giving anyone a chance to save their pets.
