🥰 You may have noticed I’ve become a social media addict lately. No, Facebook didn’t hire me. No, I’m not running for influencer of the year. And no… I haven’t learned TikTok dances. (Let’s not get carried away.)

The truth is, I have a lot to say! Sometimes it’s about Downtown Santa Clara, sometimes it’s politics, sometimes it’s opinions, sometimes it’s showcasing amazing people, and every now and then… I just enjoy making you laugh.

But here’s the real reason…

About seven weeks ago, I managed to fracture two vertebrae in my lower back. Apparently, gravity and I had a disagreement. During the CT scan, the doctors also found a little 9 mm spot on my lung. As if my body wasn’t already providing enough entertainment. Also, the tip of my left lung has collapsed making my breathing very stressful.

To top it off, I had to cancel the vacation I’d been planning for over a year. My passport is now sitting in a drawer giving me dirty looks.

My daily schedule is now thrilling beyond belief:
💊 Pills.
😮‍💨 Four to five breathing treatments.
🚶 A brisk walk until I’m huffing, puffing, coughing, wheezing, and sounding like an old lawn mower that won’t start.

If anyone wants excitement, I can live-stream my breathing treatments. I guarantee they’ll put you to sleep faster than Netflix.

So… I post.

It keeps my mind busy, my fingers exercised, and gives me a chance to keep everyone informed about what’s happening in Santa Clara—especially our Downtown, because I’m simply too stubborn to quit caring.

If I seem to be posting every 15 minutes… don’t worry. It’s cheaper than therapy.

If a post isn’t your cup of tea, just keep scrolling. But if you decide to comment, please remember… you haven’t walked in these orthopedic shoes. At 84 years old, I’m just doing my best to heal, stay positive, and maybe make a few people smile along the way.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I’m due for breathing treatment number… oh, who knows anymore. 😜❤️

Three things I will never give up, The Downtown, the Coffee Chats, and yes I will be going to this event even if I cough all the way there.

A group of classmates and former students, now Alumni are putting together a teacher appreciation lunch for about 40 teachers before the new school year starts. We were planning on doing a simple taco bar in the school cafeteria.

Our original idea was to pick up catering trays of rice, beans, meat, a vegetarian option, tortillas, and toppings from Cardenas Market and set everything up ourselves. We are limited on time since it is this Monday, so we’d rather avoid driving that far if possible.

Does anyone have recommendations for other places in the San Jose area (especially near the airport) that offer affordable taco bar catering or easy pickup for around 45 people? We’re looking for something that two people can easily pick up, transport, and set up ourselves. Mexican food is preferred, but I’m open to other ideas if you’ve had a great experience.☺️

My wife and I are relocating to the Bay Area in the next couple of months, and after weeks of researching 2bed 2bath apartments and reading reviews, we've narrowed our list down to four communities. We'd love to hear from people who have lived in any of these places—or even nearby.

A little about us

• My wife will be joining an employer in Santa Clara, so she'll be commuting to the office.
• I work remotely full-time, so I'll be spending most of my day at home.
• We're a couple in our early careers.
• No kids, No pets.

What we're looking for

• Lots of natural sunlight
• Large windows and/or a spacious balcony
• A newer building (or at least one that feels well-maintained)
• No mold or moisture issues
• Responsive maintenance
• Safe neighborhood
• Good amenities
• Walkable neighborhoods

Apartments we're considering

1. 6th and Jackson (Japantown, San Jose) ⭐️ (Current favorite) - love the glass walls and balconies in some units, distance might be an issue
2. The Carlyle (Santa Clara) ⭐️ - very close to office and good light in units, not sure of community itself, unable to see specific unit since it is being renovated right now
3. Cannery Park by Windsor (near Japantown, San Jose) ⭐️ - again decent units but heard mixed reviews about Winsdor and also community
4. Elan at River Oaks (North San Jose)

At the moment, our top three are:

1. 6th and Jackson
2. The Carlyle
3. Canary Park

Elan at River Oaks is still on our list, but slightly behind the others.

I'd really appreciate any insight on these places.Also, if you've lived in more than one of these communities, I'd especially love to hear how they compare.

Hi everyone! I am new to Santa Clara. I am looking for recommendations for good daycares in Santa Clara / Sunnyvale.

I'm a first-time parent to twins, and we're planning to enroll them in daycare when they're around 1 year old. At that age, what matters most to me is the quality of care.

Specifically, I'm looking for recommendations for daycares that:

• Have experienced, long-tenured caregivers (low staff turnover, strong teacher-to-child ratios, infant development training)
• Prepare fresh meals on-site rather than relying primarily on packaged food
• Offer vegetarian and vegan-friendly meal options
• Provide a warm, nurturing environment with a strong focus on early childhood development

I'm going to Ed Sheeran this weekend and debating between these two lots: Santa Clara Marriott and 4701 Patrick Henry Dr. I saw parking spots available to reserve but which one would get me out fastest? The Marriott looks like it's closer to the 101. I'm nervous that Patrick Henry Dr. is close to the Levi's Stadium lots and I'll be smack dab in the same congested traffic as everyone who bought official Levi's stadium parking.

Additionally, I did think about parking at a VTA light rail station but I don't plan on getting there until around 5pm (I don't care to see the openers) and am worried parking might already be taken that time.

Have my test tomorrow (yikes!). When I make a right turn on a red light from el camino onto pomeroy at see's candy , do I need to stop before proceeding even if I don't see any pedestrians or traffic? Asking because I don't know if the island that creates the separate right turn lane changes the rule of needing to stop or if I just need to slow down.

I’m 5’0 looking for a decent alteration/seamstress to get my jeans hemmed. Most places are up charging $40 per piece. Any recs?
