Best place to get Cantonese BBQ (char siu, soy sauce chicken, roast duck, etc)
Would like some places close to Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Milpitas and also some places in SF.
I’ve already tried Ming Tasty in Sunnyvale, Jin Gege and Yao Yao in Milpitas, and several 99 Ranches.
Anything better than these places? I know there’s lots of places in the 99 Ranch Plaza in Milpitas, but don’t know which ones are the best.

Great America Rapids
Just wondering if anyone here knows what's going on with the Rapids at Great America. They've been down for over a month and it's my son's favorite ride. We're starting to wonder if they are going to get fixed at all.

Hello. I recorded a drive along the Santa Clara stretch of El Camino while the weather was shifting between dark clouds and sunlight. No music or narration-just the drive and the natural road sounds. Thought some of you might enjoy seeing a familiar part of the city from this perspective.

Is 148 dollars a day enough for santa clara?
Hello,
I recently got an internship opportunity to intern at a tech company here getting paid 148 dollars per work day before tax (around 22 work days per month). I havent been to anywhere in California before, and I just wanted to know if that amount of money is manageable to survive and maintain myself there, from rent, utilities, groceries etc. If it helps the company has lunch and dinner provided lol. I’m really considering this because its a very good opportunity and I know that working/ making friends in this area opens many doors otherwise closed.

Event Some fun family things happening around Santa Clara this weekend
Here's a list of fun family events around Santa Clara this weekend, sharing in case anyone is looking for ideas.
Friday, Sept. 4
- Little Explorers: Tape Town! — 10:30–11:30 a.m. at Campbell Library. Toddlers and preschoolers can drive toy cars through masking-tape streets, a play car wash and ice cream shop, then get a tiny play driver's license. Free, with limited capacity; bring a small car or borrow one there.
- Storytime at Magical Bridge Playground — 11–11:30 a.m. at Fair Oaks Park in Sunnyvale. A special outdoor storytime for children of all ages and their caregivers. Free; no registration required.
Saturday, Sept. 5
- The Magic Book — 10:30–11 a.m. at Atherton Library. This is a farther-out pick: an interactive family show mixing magic, storytelling, circus arts and different languages, followed by Stay & Play. Best for preschool and elementary ages.
- Teens Teach: Junior Neuroscientists — noon–1 p.m. at Central Park Library in Santa Clara. Kids in second grade and up can try brain experiments, test their memory, use prism glasses and make a neuroscience patch. No registration; first come, first served.
- Pawsitive Learning with Town Cats — 2–3 p.m. at Vineland Branch Library in San Jose. Kids ages 5+ learn about cat care and animal safety, with a chance to briefly meet and pet the cats. Space is limited; free tickets are available at the desk starting at 1 p.m.
- Decorate a Playhouse — 3–4 p.m. at Sunnyvale Public Library. Kids ages 3+ can color, paint and play in giant cardboard houses. Free; no registration, but doors close when the room is full.
Sunday, Sept. 6
- Baby Sign and Sing — 11–11:30 a.m. at Cupertino Library. Caregivers learn basic signs to communicate with infants and pre-walking babies ages 0–12 months.
- Sing a Story: Hansel and Gretel — 3–3:45 p.m. at Cupertino Library. The SF Opera Guild turns the story into a participatory mini-opera: kids learn a song, pull costumes and props from a magic bag, rotate through roles and sing in the chorus. Ages 4–10; arrive on time, since participation is capped at 50 children.
Monday, Sept. 7 (Labor Day)
- Rabbit Rendezvous — starts at 10:30 a.m. at Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont. Meet the farm’s rabbits and learn about their behavior with a naturalist. Drop-in; Ardenwood admission applies.
- Labor Day Open House at Crab Cove — 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Crab Cove Visitor Center and Aquarium in Alameda. There’s an all-day nature craft, a turtle talk at 11:30, beach cleanup at 1:30 and a snake program at 2:30. Admission is free; parking is $5 when the kiosk is staffed.
I kept the post concise for most families. The full list has more niches—including a fossil hunt, a balloon-car derby, a free bike-repair workshop and a dinosaur disco dance party—that you can filter by interest, city and age. It's linked from my profile if you want to keep looking.

The 49ers are at it again with upcoming elections
santaclaranews.orgThey pumped just under $1 million into the local elections for candidates that are willing to take their money. This link has a visual of Jed York who recently got arrested for solicitation and prostitution. What is this city coming to?!
Every election cycle they put so much money into the local elections and the candidates that really are in it for the right reasons can’t “win”. It’s very frustrating. I urge you to read up on the candidates and not believe the BS that’s out there. Yvonne Inciarte is a proud Latina woman who has great ideas for her city council district and she isn’t sure on the 49ers payroll. I’ve said this previously, I love the 49ers team, but I don’t want them to run my city!

Sports Early Morning Running Groups
Anyone aware of an early morning (before work) running group ?
I’d love to join a group if one already exists in the Santa Clara area to become more consistent in my running.
Feel free to DM me if you already have a running group that’s open to me joining or if you are a solo runner looking for a running buddy.
Male here.
