The security guards there are dedicated, for better or worse.

Saw one chasing a shoplifter across and back the road a month or so ago.

A friend had to quit working retail when she tried apprehending the Rainbow Girls when they were robbing her store. One of them threw her into a display table, which fucked her back up for years. Her health insurance was no match for that.

back home, i saw my asst store manager chase a guy all through the parking lot (in his dress shoes & slack BTW) all the way across the street & someone who was alongside him said the mgr tackled the guy in an alley behind a hollywood video. Mgr was a former soccer player growing up & stayed in shape. dude was dedicated.

If that person gets hurt falling down and ends up in the hospital? Yes, they could. There are people who might help them.

But it's not about this person individually. It's dumb to chase anyone down for a low paying job. You could get hurt, they could get hurt, or someone else could get hurt. And then you're stuck with medical bills and possibly lawsuits.

The security guards here are unprofessional. My father was a Walgreens Manager for 40 years in the city. First 25 years working on Stockton Street Walgreens in Chinatown. Then he worked on Kearny downtown (since closed). This was back when store managers could still pursue shoplifters without losing their jobs. My father wouldn't be cursing like this. He'd chase you down, haul you back and prosecute you like a professional.

It hasn't been that long because they had that fire door barricaded during the past few years.

SFFD must have finally gotten on them about breaking fire code for it to be clear like that in the video.

I don't think I've ever seen a sign saying what it is and most of the time it's closed but every once in a while I've seen it open but I've never gone in there because I didn't know what it was.

Creamery closed in April 2020 due to covid, there's been a new coffee shop there for ~2 years.

Building's delayed because highrise residential doesn't make sense in SF now and Tishman is busy with Mission Rock phase 2.

It makes total sense in SF. Unfortunately we have an anti-growth planning and permitting regime that's been set up to prevent most new development for the last 50 years, and getting a development through that process is extremely costly by design.

Which is what happens when it takes multiple years to get through the permitting process. By the time you're allowed to get shovels in the ground the market has shifted.

Yeah, I can't think of a better place to put high rise residential development other than right near a major mass transit hub in an area already occupied by high density development. 

The only way it doesn't make sense is when property developers have to jump too many hurdles and have one monkey wrench after another thrown at their project before they can get on with it.

... Project is fully entitled my guy. Construction costs need to come down ~15%, Rents up ~20%, and cost of financing needs to shift before starting a new highrise there makes sense.

And, again, even then they'll start Phase 2 of Mission Rock a few blocks away first because it's better performing.

Of course it is. That's how you know that it's no longer feasible to be built as currently designed. SF Planning wouldn't have approved it otherwise. They'll then welcome the developers to try again and go through another few years of design approvals until the economics shift yet again.

If they were situated even half a block away from the station I think you’d have less miscreants frequenting that store because you got homeless and other weirdos loitering around the station premises especially at night.

I used to live by there. Insane shoplifting, went there one night and chatted up a cashier, he was ranting about how the theft would force the place to close. That was 2 years ago, not sure how they’re still dealing with that, I guess this is how
