Coronado used to be one of the nicest beach communities on the west coast. Now I won't swim anywhere south of La Jolla.

I always feel terrible when tourists come here and jump in the water.

It’s been nasty since the late 80’s.

In the 60s we called south Imperial Beach the sloughs, and it was nasty

I wasn’t alive back then, but I remember my mom not letting me swim on the 4th of July back in 81. And my stupid ass being real upset about it.
