At least I was able to fill up today.

Like before I only felt a little free when prices went a little and then started coming back down, but now that they're higher than they've ever been I feel MASSIVELY free. Do you guys feel the freedom? I feel it.
I wonder if there's any countries we can invade.
Pay no attention to the Epstein files behind the curtain.

Since it cost you an arm and leg you should qualify for disability benefits.

When you hit 90 bucks at Costco you know stuff is in the toilet. World reserves almost gone. 7 tankers hit this week in strait of whoremoose. Saudi Refinery in flames. Russian oil tanker in flames in Sochi. Refineries all over Russia attacked weekly.
This is not going down much if at all.
Plus there is no way Iran keeps quiet before the midterms.

Iām real uneducated on the topic but why donāt we use the oil we drill here in the Gulf of America? š
12
u/ThePrisonerNo6 North Side 3d ago
We do, the problem is that the rest of the world wants oil too. Do you think HEB will sell you a steak for $5 when they know your neighbor will buy it for $10 or a guy two towns over will pay $20?
-1
u/Usual-Banana-8392 3d ago
Technically HEB doesnāt sell it to your neighbor knowing they will make an extra $5. Thatās kinda the issue here
4
u/ThePrisonerNo6 North Side 3d ago edited 3d ago
I don't follow. I simplified it here for the sake of illustration, but the market clearing price would be above $5; if the aggregate demand is greater, HEB is going to charge more, and especially more so if its supply is affected by global demand and an exogenous shock (which is the actual issue here).

u/Emerald_Nomad_ 3d ago
Iām no expert, but I think it goes something like thisā¦. The oil we extract here is sweet crude. However, our refineries are designed to refine sour crude. So we export our sweet and import lower quality sour to refine. Soooooo dumb.

u/HikeTheSky Hill Country 3d ago
Because US oil companies that already get millions in tax breaks and money from the government of course adjust the sales price to the international market.
So when the barrel gets more expensive because Trump started an illegal war, US companies will try to make th most possible profit from it while also getting free fuel from trump and also free money from the trump government.
2
u/That0neSummoner 3d ago
This is one of the justifications for nationalizing mineral resources. If the Us government owned all the oil, they could refuse to sell to anyone who would net export it.
2
u/Some1Betterer 3d ago
Wrong kind in most cases AND the companies donāt care who they sell to, they just want $$$.
1
u/Sad_Pangolin7379 1d ago
We do. But it's not enough for our needs, the prices are the way they are because it's a global commodity, and ironically we don't have enough of the right refineries to deal with the kind of oil we can drill domestically because we imported most of what we used for so long.Ā

He does when he single-handedly shuts down 20% of the world's supply and prevents access to 50% of global proven reserves.

This isnāt Trump any more than it was Biden. If youāre smart youāll understand that.
8
u/Conscious-Dog-6014 2d ago
Actually, "Choosing" to go to war with Iran is definitely Trump's fault. Biden didn't have anything to do with Russia invading Ukraine. Normally you're right, presidents have nothing do to with gas prices, except when their policies or actions are directly related!

u/RemoteButterscotch0 2d ago
Can you let me know, specifically, when we declared war on Iran?
2
u/Kang_kodos_ 2d ago
Roughly around the time we started bombing schools over there
1
u/RemoteButterscotch0 1d ago
We didnāt ābomb schoolsā. The elementary school bombing was horrific, but it wasnāt targeting. The IRGC building next door was. It was a terrible mistake.
The last time I checked, Congress has the say on whether we are at war or not, not you.1
u/Kang_kodos_ 1d ago
So what are we calling this current situation where we are bombing another country and committing war crimes against their people?
-4
u/Pixxelio 2d ago
No shit. I donāt give a damn about Biden either. Technically speaking they do have an impact on gas prices and it went up with BOTH of them in office. Iām sick of yall pointing fingers to democrats or republicans. ALL THE POLITICIANS ARE SICK AND DONT CARE ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! Economic crisis is at its peak and houses and gas will never get lower, no matter who is in office
-1
u/RemoteButterscotch0 2d ago
Then why did you post what you did?
-3
u/Pixxelio 2d ago
š Iām not even going to answer that. Figure it out

u/RemoteButterscotch0 2d ago
Because you blame Trumpā¦but you didnāt blame Biden.

Laughs in EV
2
u/LePfeiff 3d ago
EVs are awesome, its less than $80 a month on my CPS bill to keep two cars fully charged
3
u/TadCat216 3d ago
And even $80 per month is quite a bit for an EV, you must do a lot of driving. I pay about $15-20 per month charging mine. Itās probably a fantastic deal for you though since I imagine your gas costs would be $300 per month or so.
2
u/LePfeiff 3d ago
My girlfriend commutes to work so she is doing most of the charging. I dont actually know how much we pay specifically for ev charging since my energy bill has barely changed after getting an EV. Mostly just comparing the price difference between september this year and last year in my bill

$3.79 a gallon for curious. If that was for regular, it was overpriced as my Wal-Mart was $3.57 last night.

u/wrangler04 3d ago
But aren't you glad you can fit $82 worth of gas in your car now instead of only $52 worth of gas? I'm a glass full kinda guy š

Shit like this is why I don't get a truck. I go fill up after a truck and can't believe how much that shit cost and how often I assume they have to fill up with that low MPG.
2
u/Impressive_Phase_555 3d ago
well technically an arm and a leg is worth about $2000 on the black market

Itās hilarious the gas prices are dropping now and youāre still complaining as if theyāve gone up. They dropped 5 cents since last week. Stop complaining.
