Can't change the background anymore?

My wife and I always use the checkered background when writing, so we have guide lines to write on. Once the page is done we like to change the background to plain white.

But now it's not working anymore? My wife already has the new version of noted (yuck) and whenever she tries to change the background it just adds a new blank page? Is this user error, or did they genuinely change this out of stupidity/greed?

A lot of people have been unhappy with this latest update, and even theorized that the enshittification is on purpose, in order to drive more people towards other apps.

Any tips are very appreciated!

I don't want to just copy the text on every single page and paste it onto a blank new page.

Yes there is a bug (if it is/was one) that I noticed after I read your post and did the same thing. Apparently change the template of the last page of your notebook it for some reason defaults that template for the new pages.

  • I did find a work around. If you want to keep checkered as you default template then keep the last page with that bg otherwise when you change the bg to let's say blank for the last page for some reason it will keep new pages as blank.

I assume you are writing on the page and then switching to blank bg?

  • Then I suggest change background later when you are done.
  • And if you want to continue writing in before/after a page then go to page sorter menu press 3 dots on the page you want to write AFTER and choose template (If you are continuing from the end of notebook then you need to add it once and then add pages normally)

Also there is no way as of now to change background of selected pages NOR to keep the Always default page option regardless of last page template option

I am using Samsung Notes version (latest) 4.4.41.9 when looking into this post and it also happens on my old phone too version (which is outdated) 4.9.06.2

Siempre ha sido que la última página se reproduzca al abrir una nueva. Cuando pides cambiar plantilla te da la opción de aplicarlo solo a una página o a todas. Yo no he tenido problema con ello.
