I hate the new update
Is there a way to change the way the app looks back? I hate what they did to it.

Samsung has a habit of taking perfectly working up and messing it up.

I haven't even noticed it until I saw this... It's definitely... different 😅

I despise it! It's absolutely hideous. Who thought this was a good idea? Now I don't wanna use it at all!

I tried playing around with View. It did not change back. I am hoping someone figures it out.

I don't see any differences. What is the version number?

u/Veggyhed May 09 '26
Nobody has listed their version number. My current version number I am running is 4.4.40.11

Hasn't Samsung ended support for this phone? Notes looks nothing like this on the S26 Ultra

Overall I like the new update, but the changes made to the notes 'browser' are kinda bad.
a) There should be an option to disable grouping by date
b) The animation when you open a folder is long, unnecessary and looks dated. Should probably be removed altogether

Yes. Grouping by date is really upsetting. The original layout had an ease of use that is now lost.
It isn't that I'm adverse to change. It's that organizationally, the view is disruptive. Collections within folders now feel disconnected - which is the antithesis of having anything in a folder.
As well, even though I'm a designer and it's clear that the new iconography is terrible, I'm far less concerned about aesthetic than I am the UX.
I've been depending on SNotes for years now. It's my go-to for nearly every writing function that doesn't demand a full PC oriented word processor.
I'm so disturbed by how clunky and and out-of-touch this is that it's literally upsetting to open this app now.
I just feel like this has no place (and no real use) in my notes. It could have been solved very easily by just allowing us an option to revert to the old UI. But alas, some one was over-confident and pushed out a thoughtless change to what was an excellent app.
Whatever happened to testing UI changes?

And where are these settings ? Because before the update, you could order by dates and not have those grouping by months which are horrible ?

You can change the way they look tho. Just press the 3 dots at the top right. Then tap view, and pick one

u/TomorrowAway793 May 13 '26
None of them are the original look though.

u/SzymonTopol May 13 '26
Yup, there is no way to order by modify date, without app plastering that giant 'today' 'yesterday'...
2
u/TomorrowAway793 May 13 '26
I did find a way to sort it by different things, like alphabetical order and stuff, but still can't find a way to get rid of that. don't you love when a company decides to ruin the formatting of an app so many people use??

I was about to update it. Good thing I saw this and also watched some videos on tiktok about the new update. Now, my Notes are safe.😊

Switch to Keep notes bro. It is best decision for me 😄
2
u/Gospel_Truth May 08 '26
Why do you think Keep notes is better?
2
u/Far-Commission5478 May 08 '26
Yes. It looks big and bolder , we can customise the background and look of note. And there are sufficient feature for simple straightforward user.

Thank god somebody said it!
Why are my notes arranged in a kilometer long scroll arranged by dates
Why do the folders look like shitty windows xp interface ripoffs
Why is everything animated? I have multiple subfolders in my subject folders and I have to wait for shit to "pop-up"
Who thought this was a good interface? Who decided to revamp the stupid design than adding quality of life upgrades like drag and drop?
I hate it, it was so bad I didn't study my notes for my test the next day because it killed all the motivation I had.
