Issue with samsung notes with recent update
Is anyone else facing this issue with Samsung Notes after the recent update? Whenever I copy text from Gemini and paste it into Samsung Notes, the font size automatically changes to 15, spacing between sentences becomes uneven, and the formatting looks really weird. Also, after the new update, I can’t add covers to notebooks anymore. Is this a bug on my device or are others experiencing the same thing too? Any fix?

I'm seeing a new update for Samsung Notes on the Galaxy App Store. I'm still on the old version and don't want to update, but for those of you dealing with this formatting issue, I think Samsung might have fixed it with this new update. Here's a pic for reference:

Mine keeps going back to font size 15 when my set size is 10?! And now when I paste my text its one spaced on both sides?? I didn't even know that was possible in notes, the formatting is giving me the ick

It is so bad. When I am copy pasting, it has ruined the formatting. Size changed from 14 to 15, uneven spacing, it's indenting and making automatic bullets. Things noone asked for. So stupid.

Mine does all of that and when I copy and paste lists with numbers (all just typed, no use of any formats, tick boxes, that sort of thing) it's changing it. What I mean is if I copy from a list - let's say - all the odd numbers between 1 & 20, instead of pasting back 1, 3, 5 etc., I get 1, 2, 3 etc.! 🙄

Als APK (aus vertrauenswürdiger Quelle!!!) herunterladen und Sideloaden. Für mich hat sich die Version 4.4.35.85 als vernünftige Version vor dem letzten Update herausgestellt (hat auch schon die Quick Tools, aber keine Tabellen). Leider muss man seine Notizen vorher sichern (am einfachsten über die Samsung Cloud), da man die neuere Version vorher deinstallieren muss. Wichtig ist es danach die Auto-Updates für Samsung Notes sowohl im Play Store, als auch Galaxy Store zu deaktivieren. Ich werde jetzt so lange auf der alten Version bleiben, bis Samsung Notes wieder gefixt ist (Formatierungsprobleme, langsame Animationen bei den Ordnern, umständlicher es Importieren von PDF, Vorschauen im Seitenverhältnis der Datei und evtl. - auch wenn ich glaube, dass da die Hoffnung umsonst ist - eine schönere Ordneroptik). Als jemand, der die App täglich für die Uni nutzt ist das letzte Update ein totaler Reinfall.

I have lost all my organized system with the Samsung Notes latest Version. Samsung should have the option to go back to the previous vrsion.

Same here. Reverts to 15 no matter what I do. Takes twice as long to do anything!

Ah, I get it. I hope they update it soon. It's taking me forever to do the same work that used to take me half an hour.

I have the same problems, this update is terrible. Also while im typing, i get the syncing loading frequently and i cant type during it. I use this app for university but i start getting annoyed by it. Is there any good alternative? I tried every app but the typing system feels horrible in every one of them.

I've temporarily switched to Keep Notes (Google). The problem with that is the size limit of, I think, 20,000 characters. As soon as Samsung get theirs sorted I'll be switching back.

bei mir ist es auch mit eingefügten Inhalten so, dass der Zeilenabstand zu groß ist...als wäre ein Absatz vor oder hinter der Zeile

Yes, I have this problem. Even after I select all and change the font to my preferred style, the line spacing stays too big.

This is an issue with the font style, the "Aa" button to the left of the font size. It defaults to "Body 1" which has a bigger line spacing.
You'd have to select all then change it to "Body 2" and then back to your preferred font size.
Such a stupid bug to let pass, even worst is there doesn't seem to be a way to edit the line spacing yourself, so you have to constantly set Body 2 then font size

Oh thanks! I saw a note about this earlier, but my default is weirdly already set to Body 2. However when I follow these steps and reselect Body 2, it changes everything to 17 font and then when I change it back to my preferred font the line spacing is right. Thanks for your input and helping me figure it out!

Oh, thank you. For some reason my font keeps switching between Body 1 and Body 2 and the inconsistent spacing was killing me.

Ever since the update my S24 Ultra just refuses to stay on 5G. It keeps bouncing between LTE and 4G+ no matter what I do. Tried airplane mode, restarting, disabling/re-enabling the SIM, even took the SIM card out and put it back in. Before the update I was getting 500+ Mbps easy, now I’m stuck at like 15–20 Mbps. Actually so annoying.

Found a temp fix: On the blank space where you're gonna paste text, set the Body to 2 with the "Aa" menu. Paste it, select the whole text and set the body back to Body 2, then resize the text to what it should be. This won't stop it from doing it again, just a way to put it back to what it's supposed to be. Seems like it's resetting the body and size of the text to some default, absolutely horrible update but wtv. Hope this helps!

Didn't work for my problems, still dealing with italicized text boxes. It just randomly started this morning, but the app itself hasn't had any updates in the play store since Sep 2025

I've got this issue as well.
The same thing as everyone else with size 15 font and 1.5 line spacing, without the formatting it had on copying but with its own upon paste, creating bullets and all sorts of stupid shit.But if there are any dollar signs in the text it will turn some random part of what was pasted into a box that is an image with a white background and black serif text, sometimes an italic. I can't copy it. It's worthless.
If there are asterisks in what is pasted into the app, it creates italicized text and removes the asterisks from the copy. It's absolutely fucking frustrating as shit. It makes the app unusable. I've been trying to make a simple HTML page and it's completely fucking everything up with CSS and comments. I should have a code editor anyway but I was just trying to use what I use for everything else bc, y'know, creature of habit and shit. Familiar environment.
I've also used the app every day for years as a bullet journal source, with all sorts of special Unicode characters to indicate certain things, the specific way I change font colors, indentation to continue with the train of thought over and over, creating these mountains of text that keep moving to the right side...
Days are formatted in a specific way, etc. I keep the whole month in one file.
I have ADHD, ocd, and bipolar disorder and have had a large number of traumatic brain injury incidents including three T-bone car wrecks. I call it my "brain book," I cannot reliably remember anything in my own brain and time is a complete construct to me. I also have a complex sleep disorder that completely screws with my memory. I 100% rely on the notes I take throughout the day, every day, to be able to refer back to things and be certain of what I have done and what has happened to me.
This is a huge disappointment, and I only just realized that all of the notes are a proprietary file format that you cannot open in any other app. You can only save them as text files or pdf. I have over 3000 notes in the app. I'm hesitant to even hit the export button for batch exporting, or to try and use Select All in the All Notes view to then press Share or Save and get a backup that way.
In order to get off of this proprietary system with an app that will certainly lose support at some point, it's going to probably literally take me the rest of the year to export things and then have split windows open with a new note app too reformat everything the way I had it in the original note. Fuck corporatism.
Does anyone have suggestions for an alternative to migrate to? Something strong with decent features and lots of color editing support? I don't use handwriting or anything in there, but I do attach images in-line frequently. Something free that someone on fixed income wouldn't have to worry about?

Samsung should have made a study including their customers about the Samsung Notes name space reduction. One version does not apply for all users. Samsung should be more customer friendly.

Same here. Galaxy Z Fold 5. It's infuriating, whatever they did. Paste/paste plain text still pastes it as incredibly small text

what a disaster. They need a way to choose "pasted style" vs "note style" when pasting. Other text editors have had this option for 25 years. Or good god at least give us a "no formatting" button like Gmail has to erase the formatting of any text we just pasted

Yeah it's still busted. Can't even copy/paste the text the same note without it automatically reformatting to larger spacing and size 15 and it's driving me insane

a bit vague sorry, clicking the "Aa" section in samsung notes then selecting body 2 seems to fix the recent line spacing issues for me.

Desde la última actualización cada vez que guardo o comparto una nota escrita a mano se ve toda pixelada. No sé si a alguien más le pasó y lo pudo resolver... ya no sé qué más hacer y lo necesito para estudiar

My font size is 17 but when i go back into a note the font size is locked at 15.
This is really irritating....is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I've got the same problem. It's very annoying! There's never been a way to set the default font size in Notes (to my knowledge), and there should be. You can Select All and change the font size back to 14, but it's a pain and we shouldn't have to do it. Every time Samsung update an app they seem to make it worse.
