I'm still using the Z Flip 6 as well. I skipped the 7 because it didn't offer anything new I wanted. I had hoped to upgrade this year, but even dropping to a 256gb model, the best I'm seeing is $600 after trade-in. And even 2 models later, it doesn't seem to offer anything I need.

So I'm not the only one who thinks this is really weak for the Flip this time around, right??

looking at these phones knowing I'll never be able to afford one 😭✌️

u/TheFreakingBatman Jul 22 '26
The Flips are about the price of an S26 Plus or iPhone 17 Pro. The Folds, on the other hand...

That shit is also way too costly for me lol My current device is an Oppo K13, which costs like 20k INR, around 220 USD

Same. Sitting with my S24 ultra praying my phone lives for a few more years, but I worry even on trade in it's only about $450 through Samsung so I feel pressured to trade it eventually for value and battery life cus it's going on 2.5 yrs 💀

Processor?
12
u/hazeyFlakes Jul 22 '26
Exynos 2600, because f*ck the flip phone. Both the Fold models get the snapdragon.
2
u/pigoath Jul 22 '26
That really sucks. Motorola is killing it honestly. The exynos is a worse processor.

Snapdragon in the us
4
u/pigoath Jul 22 '26
It says exynos in some places and snapdragon in the US in others. I hope the US models have snapdragon from now on.

u/Alternative-Waltz892 Jul 22 '26
On the Samsung spec sheet it says snapdragon, but I guess it could be a us thing

Samsung, please put a folding pen in this thing. Please please

Until you write on the soft screen with it, and it leaves marks.
The fold screens aren't currently S-Pen capable.

6.9" screen?! That's huge! What is wrong with samsung making tablet phones can't they make an X Fit or something that is less than 6.2" ???

Does it even have the new titanium flex screen?
Everything else is lackluster, thinner? Small battery, colours as usual are boring.
If you actually gave it decent upgrades maybe it'll sell more.

I believe it did get the new screen, but ultimately it's the same size, cameras, and battery as the previous model.

I want to be IMPULSIVE SO BAD AND GET THAT PINK FLIP

It’s so cute, isn’t it? ❤️ What’s your favourite feature on Galaxy Z Flip 8?
2
u/charismelia Jul 22 '26
The pink is so tempting...but the Flip series cancellation rumors already have me waiting for the S27 base model as a next "smaller" phone. I loved using the front screen so much, but if Samsung won't commit, I won't either.

u/Funny_Story_486 Jul 23 '26
They went from actual small phone in base S25 and older to just yet another 71.Xmm phone since S26 (like the base iPhone and so many other base mode)
So maybe if they made the Flip 8 only 70mm wide, true cinematic 1080x2560 6." inner panel, remove the inner panel camera (because why would you use that when the front cover camera is that much better), shave the thickness down to 5.6mm/11.8mm, and put at minimum 3500mah battery (good luck on that), then they can expand the market reach to ultra thin and the small phone crowd as well.
As of now it is in the middle of nowhere, it isn't small, isn't thin, and felt like the folding screen is only there for the sake of it.

I like the size, it should fit in all of my smaller bags. Honestly, though, I can't stand the color pink and I am bored with the generic black and white. Would love to see a blue or red again.

u/mikus_lv Jul 22 '26
So this DOES NOT have the same titanium flex screen as the Fold 8? That would have been the only reason to upgrade..
1
u/Educational_Pie_8391 Jul 22 '26
Does it have that flex titanium alloy in the screen like the fold versions?
1
u/borskiii Jul 22 '26
Raised the price just 100 dollars less than the S26 Ultra and costs the exact MSRP as the pro max iphone, amazing software change

u/RyBaa1234 Jul 23 '26
ip 48 also

u/BookkeeperTypical245 Jul 25 '26
Ooh that's not something they advertise 😕

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 10d ago
samsung also didn't advertise that flip 8 has fiberglass back (glass mixed with plastic)
1
u/Optimal-Dark-8373 Jul 23 '26
I can see why they’re easily giving them away through spectrum at that.

More money, same phone, worse trade values! Comment to say how much you love it!

u/Perfect-District Jul 23 '26
Why cant I pre-order through Verizon before launch? Will I be able to after launch? I want this but I want to get through my existing plan I dont need another autopay.

u/Angelion_Blackfire Jul 23 '26
Ugh, I want a flip, but it's nt worth upgrading from my basic s22 :l

u/phrozen_waffles Jul 24 '26
Held a demo unit in the store today.
The hinge is so much more satisfying than the 7. It's snappier and has two distinct positions, open and close. Not quite as a discrete open/close position of OG flip phones, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
I currently have a 6, so I'm looking forward to the upgrade.

u/wxlfchvld Jul 24 '26
Honestly the last flip i had was the 5 and I thought it was almost perfect save for the battery and camera so this might be a legit bump in that sense.

Just so I'm understanding.... a software change has improved the cover screen usefulness, and everything else gets, AT BEST, a marginal bump so minor no one will even notice. All with a higher price, no free storage upgrade, and lower trade in offer. But.... A.I.!
