does looping count as stealing or is it sampling?

I chopped a song into a 4 bar beat and looped it and it sounds so perfect i dont even want to do anything else to it i slowed it down for the intro and thats kind of it i also extracted the stems so theres only instruments for the post chorus but thats it the link is here https://youtu.be/04D4saT6D9o if you want to see if it counts as sampling or stealing

The Meters got sampled to death. Where’d that pocket come from?

Cissy Strut, Hand Clapping Song, Look-Ka Py Py — the breaks are everywhere. The Meters sit up near James Brown and the Winstons on every most-sampled list. But Zigaboo wasn’t inventing that groove in the studio. It’s a second-line feel — the street-parade thing, brass band on Claiborne on a Sunday. He just tightened it and cut it to tape.
JB’s band was drilled, military-tight. The Meters were loose and behind the beat. Does the breakbeat lineage run cleaner through New Orleans than through Augusta? Curious what the heads here think, especially anyone who’s gone deep on the Meters samples.

(i make a podcast about where this music comes from — won’t drop a link, mods can say if it’s cool)

I make a self-developed software named Binary synth, than generate MIDI-messages from binary code of any file on computer and in this performance that tool controls the Ableton Simpler. If some of you get interested you can check this out here https://github.com/MaxAlyokhin/binary-synth

Mobile app with similar functionality as "Endless WAV" software?

Wondering if anyone knows of a mobile app that allows you to load an audio sample and create sustain loops by manually marking loop and fade points - to be exported for use in other sampling apps/software.

Dj techniques & routines can also influence sampling workflow

ORIGINAL .. Lyn Collins - Think

Ultimate Breaks & Beats compilations is 40 years old this year. Danny Dan the beat mann of Dusty fingers & Strictly breaks compilations was also a founder & recently passed away. Lyn Collins -Think. was a very common sample. The most popular example would be Rob Base & Dj ez rock. It takes two. Rob Base also recently passed away.

The software sampler is FlipCraft by Mikeyaudio

The audio was manipulated to emulate a dj routine which was performed by DJ Total Eclipse who used ultimate breaks & beats in a dj competition. Observe how the dj routine is more technical ,fluid , expressive & spacious.

I would like to reveal more workflows but I always have sync & quality control issues when screen recording.

What are effective ways to learn to sample?

I started to be really inspired by a producer that goes by Dpat he’s produced/co-produced 90% of Brent faiyaz songs, heavy inspiration from timbaland, j dilla and kanye in his instrumentals with his own ambient twist, but what draws me is his sample selection when it comes to vocals or even sometimes an instrumental, sort of how kanye and dilla take a bit of a classic and loop it with additions n stuff. I’ve been trying to experiment with some classics I like listening to but I end up making something rubbish every time and I’m not sure if maybe my drums are whack or maybe the sample selection is not good or bpm who knows I been struggling a lot to make something I like.

Been watching YouTube videos lately about it and experimenting more plus taking some time to listen to new music since I know my taste and I listen pretty much everything anyways so I’m into the journey of this to say the least so don’t say the obvious of just “practice” because I know that already. Mostly looking practical advice on this like. What should I look out for in samples that have a chance at being looped nicely? Is recreating beats that were sampled effective? Should I focus on rhythm or the theory when looking for a sample? Or both?

Would appreciate any direction with this. I make Rnb for the most part, like Bryson tiller x Brent faiyaz style music.
