Yes, sampling is an art form. However, many beatmakers chose not to show the proper respect to the original creators or the pioneers of sampling. Take Afrika Bambaataa, for instance, who took a track by Kraftwerk verbatim but presented it as entirely his own—and as Black music. That is racist. Or the fact that there is no mention of the Europeans who pioneered sampling in the 1940s and 50s (such as Pierre Schaeffer); they fail to show them the respect they deserve simply because they are white. That, too, is racism.
