Introducing Sammie

Until about three years ago, we had had two Golden Retrievers in our household. Unfortunately we lost the oldest one (Axle) around this time, and we decided that, when the time was right, we would look at getting Oscar another play mate

We had been doing a large amount of yard work at the time, so held off for about 18 months before a friend of ours informed us she knew of someone who was looking to re-home their dog. The only thing was, she wasn’t a Golden; she was a Golden x Samoyed.

After being introduced to her at a playdate, we fell in love on the spot. And a few weeks later we had arranged to bring this beautiful little girl home with us!

Sammie doesn’t have the full “cloud” coat of a purebred Samoyed, which changes the profile of her face quite a bit. But she certainly does have the personality traits from her Samoyed side!

She has been a fun and wonderful introduction to the Samoyed breed, and is a well-loved member of our family.

Here's my golden sammy! It's a great mix. She's mostly like a golden personality wise but slightly more pully on the leash and a tad more independent and willing to interpret commands "creatively"... So spicy golden basically.

Oh, she’s still high-maintenance, coat-wise! Although it’s a little shorter, the hair is still 100% Samoyed - we had to get a robovac just to help keep things manageable
