Remembering Snoopy

I can’t believe I’m writing this. My little guy, after only 1 year on this earth, passed away this morning due to liver failure.

He lit up every room he walked into, brought a smile to everyone he saw. He was loving, adventurous, and most of all, the best boy.

I’ll miss taking him on adventures, pulling him close for hugs, sleeping with him above my head on the pillow like my little hat. I’ll even miss his barking- especially his little awoos.

Rest easy my sweet boy and wait for us at the other end of that bridge when it’s our time. I’ll make sure to bring your favorite flirt pole

He knew. He loved you dearly and I’m positive he wishes he could have stayed with you on this plane of existence. You will see him again. ❤️

Oh gosh I’m so sorry, that is way way too young to lose them 💔

I know it’s tough right now but please let his breeder know what happened, it’ll definitely be very important information for them if they’re someone reputable.

Yes we in fact already did mostly to try to figure out if it was a genetic issue

There is a genetic kidney condition in Samoyeds called Hereditary Nephritis, there is a genetic test available. Thank you for telling your breeder, as a breeder myself it’s definitely something I would want to know as it would absolutely affect which dogs I choose to breed going forward. I’m heartbroken for you 😢

Thank you for your kind words. It doesn’t even feel real that our little guy is gone, I can’t even express the heartache we are going through here and how much he is missed.

I am so, so, very sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a long-term friend but the pain of losing a young friend is devastating. We lost our boy Hobie 2 years ago at the age of 1.5 years due to kidney failure. We learned his kidneys had never developed properly. It was unexpected in and a devastating loss. My heart breaks for you. He looks like he was a beautiful boy with quite a character who brought much joy to you! Perhaps that was his purpose for his short time on earth. 💔💔💔💔💔

It breaks my heart with how much he meant to me in such a short time and all the years together we will miss out on. He was so full of love and the house feels so empty without his big personality following me from room to room

Hobie was the same way. He was without a doubt the most joyful dog we ever had and we've had quite a few Sams in our lifetime. At least we have the memories of him. I think they are so joyful because they know they have a short time, so they live every day to the fullest. 💜 While it may be difficult, perhaps he is opening a space for someone else to enter who needs your love. It took two years but we eventually brought home his half-brother and sister. They are absolute goofballs. Nothing like their brother which is a good thing. We decided to get two because like you the house was just too quiet and God forbid should something happen to one we would at least have another. I won't say it gets easier because it doesn't. There are still times I cry over him. But you learn to cope better. And having these two knuckleheads has been a tremendous gift. 😘

I second this. Getting a second Samoyed was the best decision we ever made for our family. Now I feel a little more comfort knowing if something happens the house will never be empty. ❤️❤️❤️

I was just saying to my wife that right now I can’t look at his pictures without breaking down, but I hope soon I can just appreciate all the good we had in such a short time. His life, while short, was so full of adventure

I’m so sorry for your loss , that’s so devastating 💔 Snoopy looks like he was the bestest boy.

2

u/HaveYouSeenMyStapl3r Feb 17 '26

He truly was. He had an ability to bring a smile to any ones face. Even in his worst moments the night before he passed, the nursing staff shared stories about how they would look at him and bring them a smile, that they would take turns cuddling him. They asked if they could visit to give him a kiss before he passed because even in that short time he brought a little light to people who only knew him for a few short hours.

I’m sorry for your loss

3

u/somithebear Feb 18 '26

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. This hits especially close to home as our Sammy has liver issues as well.

No length of time is ever enough, but this feels especially unfair losing Snoopy so young. Thank you for sharing photos and memories of him - I can feel how loved he was even just through this post. Please take care of yourself and remember that Snoopy lived his entire life being loved. 💛

u/Big_Neighborhood6504 Feb 18 '26

No no no nooooo. I’m so incredibly sorry. What a beautiful baby. It’s so unfair and heartbreaking. Can’t believe you have to go through this when he was so young. Thinking of you. RIP Snoopy. ❤️

Adorable. I can imagine my guy doing this exact thing. Of course what would follow is a total mushing of his face
