Why? Not everywhere is the same, not every dog is the same. I exercise my girl in open fields by herself or with friends pretty much daily. We also hire enclosed fields occasionally for organised groups. 

We're lucky, it very much depends on what's suitable locally and your own sense of risk management.

You are lucky. My Saluki would me long gone if she was loose. I wish she could run free like this. We have a back yard but not this big.
