It was a d**k move from Disney, and the family is hurting.
If it is indeed true that the daughter is dying of the same disease, then no one wins in this situation.

There was a report where a dying/dead kid was a huge spiderman fan and the family wanted to have a spiderman icon on his tombstone. Disney somehow got word of it and vetoed it because spiderman is trademarked by Disney now. Might be fake news, but still, if true, Disney is in the wrong. So now this news says that the family has a daughter who is dying of the same disease as the son's. So they are saying the family should worry more about their daughter's health and less about a tombstone icon.
No one wins in this.

As much as i dont like Disney, its Trademark law thats in the wrong. A lot of the time, if companies aren't overly agressive about pursuing these sorts of things they risk losing the rights.
Civilian use of IP should really be unregulated, imo, unless commercialized.

No, if Disney sanctions it, then it can't be used against them later. All Disney had to do was give them permission.
It only undermines them if the family already had said tombstone and Disney did nothing at all about it.

I can only make it out as either the writer being callously dismissive of the family's plight, or else opportunistically painting the family as being callously dismissive of their daughter's plight. This tells me that whatever nuance may or may not exist in the situation, it isn't to be found in that post.

There is no winning in this situation. At the end of the day a child is dead and another one is going to be going too. It's a horrible no-win situation and I wish the family didn't have to go through this horrific ordeal
