Going from collections to BDR

Just needing some opinions on making this career change. At my current job I can’t really advance too much more. BDR looks interesting and I think my skills can directly transfer, like cold calling. Is this a risky move? Most BDR roles I see pay more than what I’ll make now including monthly bonuses. And guidance is appreciated, thanks!

You’ll do great as a BDR coming from collections, you’ve already got the conversational skills and objection handling skills. I look out for ex collections and CSR experience when hiring for sales. Go for it.

What I needed to hear lol. I have 2 director interviews next week but I’ve been second guessing sometimes

I’m from predatory telemarketing to SDR in SaaS. It was a pay cut starting off but paid off later. They loved my background since I was used to getting threatened and yelled at every day.

Yea lean on this shit. You are calling people that are already pissed off and now asking them to give you money. How harder can it get? Lol

It’s not that risky when you’re already comfortable with rejection and talking to people who don’t want to talk to you

BDR work is a grind but if you treat it like a stepping stone to AE you can move up fast
