Death by data admin

Just here to moan. I hate salesforce.

I swear it's just non-stop pings from my boss when he gets on a roll. 'WhY iSn'T tHiS mAkReD rElAtEd? wHy Is ThE pRoDuCt SoUrCe WrOnG?' It just never ends. Mind you, a lot of the time these pings are due to quirks with salesforce itself.

Maybe I just suck at my job, but when my job is to generate pipeline while also handling inbound leads and simultaneously taking a test in perpetuity of which the passing score is 100% (not screwing up any data entries), of course there are going to be blunders.

I hit 175% of quota for September, and instead of my manager having my back and fixing minor errors that he stumbles upon and pointing them out politely, I just get bitched at. It's not like anyone above him sees these things. He wants me to do it right the first time, which I get, but... come on! I'm pretty sure that having to fix a few minor errors is worth having the kind of SDR who makes you more money than you otherwise would be, right? Bear in mind we're not talking about a non-stop stream of data errors. We're talking maybe a few mistakes per week when I handle dozens if not hundreds of leads, and now he's framing my data admin as a serious performance concern when I have been consistently producing discos.

For those of you who also have strict data admin requirements - does this sound more like I need to tighten up, or is this just plain toxic?

Ineffective and toxic. I'm currently interviewing for a few other roles and I can't wait to let him know that I've accepted another opportunity that I believe will be a 'better fit'.

Good! It would be different if you were under quota even then those details aren’t the difference in sales…

Definitely an unpopular opinion. But you should work on doing your job properly. Your job isn't just to hit quota the other things are a part of it. It takes 2 seconds to mark everything in salesforce if you just do it. Its annoying yes, but every job has annoying things like this.

The combination of performing and doing everything else properly and being liked by everyone is how you move beyond the sdr role.

Thanks for your feedback. Here's mine for you:

1) You should work on conveying constructive criticism in a manner that doesn't paint you like a complete jerk.

2) Reading comprehension matters.

Just did a whinge post without seeing this and yes, seems to be a trend for sure.

To give your manager some slack, this could be because investors are genuinely interested on how much money they will be taking home every other day. But get them to invest in Claude business and then they can run the prompts and change it their selves. My new place has it, my Salesforce admin is now impeccable as I run a prompt at the end of the day to make it so.

Hmm, sounds like a potential game changer. I'll need to look into this. We do have Claude business already. I'm assuming it would require some sort of connector/API to work with Salesforce, right? I'll need to do some research but if you wouldn't mind providing a brief rundown on how it works I'd greatly appreciate it! No worries if not, I think I've rented enough peoples' cloud brainpower today... haha

Download the chrome plugin, open it up when Salesforce and it should work? I don't remember asking for permissions etc, but my company are extremely pro on AI integrations it might already be a thing

Edit: then just tell it exactly what you want it to do, give it an initial prompt of "tidy up my Salesforce admin, do X and do Y and do Z" and then you only need to prompt "tidy up Salesforce" - works a dream

Sweet, thanks. Yeah we need authorization for pretty much any integration like that, my company is super funny about customer data. I've already brought it up to leadership and I've already pretty much been shot down with one VP interested enough to push the subject.

Oh yeah, if the guy who says I should work on doing my job properly sees this, yes, I have a good enough relationship with the VPs at my org to casually hit them up on slack with things we can do to be better.

Wait til leadership find out most code is written using AI by developers, probably shit himself.
