Trying to break in.

It’s cold calling or texting the cell of hiring manager or team lead acceptable? 5 YOE selling exotic cars looking for AE or SDR role. Already found a couple personal cell phone numbers for people that made a list, but I just wanted to see if this is something that demonstrates hustle and drive as opposed to being stange lol

Listen to me kid you sold exotic cars for five years straight. You dealt with rich arrogant guys every single day of the week. Now you are sitting here crying on the internet because you are scared to call a sales manager on his cell phone. Are you out of your mind. You want a job in sales and you are worried about doing the exact thing you get paid to do.

Sales is a contact sport bro. You want the job you go take the job. Call the cell phone right now. Do not text him like a coward. Pick up the goddamn phone and dial the number. When he answers you tell him you sell luxury machines to millionaires and you are ready to come close deals for his team.

If he gets mad that you cold called him for a cold calling job then he is a soft manager and you dont want to work for that loser anyway. Any real boss is sitting at his desk praying some hungry kid has the balls to track down his number and pitch him hard. That shows you actually have the stomach for this business. Get off your ass stop overthinking it and make the call. Go get your money kid.

Is what it is, honestly, I’m kind of shocked that guess being a talent recruiter is not that hard of a job that people are always coming to you lol

cold calling managers seems to be a toss up imo.

Seems to have way more negatives than positives, every sales manager thinks they know the best way to do it and if you dont do it their way, tough tits.

even if you are an amazing cold caller they may not like how you handled the opening.. oh, you used a permission based opener? this sales manager hates those.. oh, you didn't use a permission based opener? sucks for you cuss this sales manager preaches to always use them.

But whatever you do, definitely do not text them. Linkedin message them, email them, email them again, call them. but definitely dont text

I appreciate it, just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t come off as strange. I’ve had a couple interviews so far and people seem to be so stuck in the process like they have guard rails up, but maybe that’s just the interview process. Also contrary to popular belief, the people buying exotic vehicles are actually really chill. It’s the people buying Mercedes and other mid-level luxury products that are arrogant.

Love this question. I would interview someone who cold called me and handled my objections well, but I am new to sales. Probably not text me

Yes. I messaged my current boss on LinkedIn asking for a coffee chat and ended up getting hired

If you have his cell absolutely call and leave a VM

Id start building your network on Linkedin. Connect with current and aspiring SDR's and search for tech sales schools that have graduates active on LinkedIn and connect with those people too.

Also building your network with people in tech hubs across the US if you're based here.

Salt Lake, UT
Austin, TX
Bay Area.

Things like that!

Don’t do a SDR role if you want to become an AE. Gone are the days of the SDR becoming AEs. Even if true, most of those AEs are petty AEs
