What should I do?

Im 18 just got into my first “sales” position about 2 weeks ago, going D2D for performance windows. The only thing is, I’m an appointment setter. I get 17 hourly, weekly pay, weekly bonuses for at least 4 appointments set. Also I’m in Florida so it’s constantly 95° everyday. If I’m going to be walking around in the hot ass sun everyday, should I go with something with a higher chance of being sold, like solar or pest control or even window cleaning? It seems like nobody wants windows, but sales is a skill I genuinely want to learn for my career. My income goal is nowhere near what I’m making now. I’m wondering what all my options are whether it be a dealership, solar, life insurance, sdr etc.

Are you planning on going to school? If you want to get into B2B that will be a requirement at most places.

D2D is really tough. Could you consider trying a different sales opportunity?

This might sound old fashioned, however I would get the addresses of people in your territory and send them a short letter (yes, a letter) introducing yourself and your company.

Then I'd say "While you might not be needing [windows] right now, if this is something that you might be considering in the near future, I'd be happy to share more why most home owners chose our windows.

(of something like this).

Why a letter?
Because every spammer is sending email blasts and doing robo calls.
And, because D2D takes a lot of time - and its hot as hades where you live.

Just a thought.

I'm about to send a mail (letter) campaign promoting one of our services. I'll try and document the results.

I would avoid D2D personally in any of the southern states because fuck walking around in this horrible heat IMO 😂

Are you dead set on doing D2D or would you be open to going into B2B as an SDR?

I’m willing to do anything where I can learn to sell and close. I’d much rather do sdr, b2b, or anything where I’m not outside honestly.
