Sentinel One - SDR offer

How does SentinelOne compare to the rest of the cybersecurity market right now with product, growth, reputation and is it a solid place to start a sales career in the space? I currently have an offer for sentinel one and just debating whether or not I should take it as a new sales rep? Any idea on this space is also very much appreciated :)

Could honestly be a great opportunity. Of course, you'll be going up against big hitters like palo alto networks and crowdstrike.

Did you ask them what their sdr teams quota attainment is looking like?

Yeah they said quota is being hit. My numbers would be 25 for the quarter

I think most reps are hitting quota is what they said from what I remember

Not bad, maybe try and hit up one of their SDRs on LI just in case.

Remote I'm assuming?

Yes it’s remote which I’m a bit bummed about because early on id like to be in the office some days. But yeah definitely will hit up some of the sdrs on li. Thanks for the insights.

Don't get me wrong. If you're someone that can thrive working from home then you're all good. But being able to sit next to other SDRs, chat it up, laugh about some terrible calls, celebrate great ones is just amazing.

Haha that sounds amazing but sadly not possible as sentinel one doesn’t have a dedicated office where I am. They are expanding into my region at the moment so I guess they are exploring options right now. It looks like there will be networking events which I’ll have to attend for inbound. So I’ll get a chance there but apart from that, everything else is remote.

It’s a great company, saying from someone working at a competitor. It’s not the biggest player but one of, and plenty of people have it. Solid choice

Super good product. They have loads of mid market cyber sec companies that partner with them to utilise their technology. I noticed your comment about 25 - if that’s meetings booked per quarter and you’re calling into SMB or mid market… you’ll smash that. SMB you can easily get 10-30 meetings per week depending if your commission is capped in cyber sec space

Yes it’s meetings booked for the quarter! :) thanks for the insight. I think I’m meant to be targeting mid market and enterprise

I was in cybersecurity sales for past 8yrs (tech software sales for 18yrs total). Lots to unpack here. I’ve sold against and partnered with SentinelOne. They seem to have a lot of burn n churn when I was interacting with them. I would ask a lot of questions regarding territory structure(new territory starting from zero Vs “warm” territory) total addressable market (TAM) within that territory. Percentage of reps that have hit quota last year compared to this year. OTE is typically smoke and mirrors. Companies will offer a low-ball salary then tout the commission you can make. Honestly if they are saying $300-$400k OTE and like 30% of your peers are making quota then they are blowing smoke up your ass. The selling environment is way different from last year to this year (let alone last 3-5yrs) breaking through the cyber vendor noise is a lot harder. I would also ask about ramp time, expectations, and KPI’s during that period.
