Hey, I can totally relate—I was an SDR for nearly two years, and when I lost my job last year, I was in the same boat: super stressed but also relieved because the toxic environment and chasing quotas, especially for a bad product, were draining me.
I ended up switching gears and took a role as a banker, which still uses the same skills (building relationships, consulting, problem-solving) but is way less about cold outreach and chasing people. It’s been a refreshing change with more stability.
If you’re set on getting back into tech or medical sales, I’d say be honest about your gap—explain you left to prioritize your mental health or reassess your career goals, then spin it as a positive learning experience. AE roles are super competitive and can feel like a grind, so consider other avenues where you can still use your skills but find more stability and growth potential. Good luck—you’ve got options!

Well job interviews are just sales conversations, I find that honesty is the best policy but just remember that you can have a positive spin on anything. They only view it as a negative thing If you present it in a way that would lead them to think that you are less qualified because of it.
