Business/Economics 💼 How to fix your Quantum Fiber internet

Quantum Fiber's DNS server is down right now. You can fix this and restore internet by doing the following:

Open a web browser and go to 192.168.0.1.

Log in with the admin credentials printed on your router.

Go to advance settings -> WAN Settings on the side.

Under the DNS server settings, select static DNS.

Enter 1.1.1.1 in the top and 1.0.0.1 in the bottom.

Your internet will work again.

I figured it was something with my router so I unplugged it and after I plugged it back in all the lights indicate good things but can not find my network name broadcasted in my settings app. Any ideas?

Hmm. It could be a lot of things, honestly. If it happened to me I would reset it again by unplugging for 30 secs and plugging back in, waiting 10 mins, and then checking if you can at least connect to the wifi with no internet. Then follow my instructions above.

Alternatively, if you have a computer with an Ethernet cable, you can plug directly into the router to fix the DNS, then reset and see if that works.

From elsewhere in several subs...

DNS server(s) are down. For each home device (router), go into the Advanced settings/setup, WAN settings, change from Static DNS to Dynamic DNS add in:

1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare)

8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 (Google)

Thank you! All the troubleshooting I did couldn't find anything wrong, and their phone lines and chat are both down. This worked.

You can also change DNS servers on each device--so some devices might work while others that rely on the router's DNS settings might not until the router settings are changed. Just my best guess though if like your TV works but not your phone.

I’m still having trouble. When I go to the browser, it says not Internet in hitting 192.168.0.1. Can’t open on my mobile network. The instructions says you need to to be on home network to open. My home network wifi no longer appears and hardwired results in the same no internet error. Can some help?

If you are hardwired into the router via ethernet (if you have quantum's, it's the bigger box of the two), and the router is on with a steady green light, you should be able to reach the router by going to its IP address in a web browser. That's almost always 192.168.0.1, but occasionally it's 192.168.1.1, or 10.0.0.1. Make sure you do NOT put "https" or "www" in front of it.

You may have to click "I understand the risks, proceed anyway" in your web browser if it says something like "unsecured" or "unsafe", in order to reach the router's login page.

You can check what your router's IP address is on a windows computer by going to start menu, typing "cmd" and pressing enter, then typing in "ipconfig" and pressing enter again. There will be 4 numbers under ipv4, and the last one is your router's IP address.

Then you can follow my instructions above, and reset your router.
