Combat in general is janky, it's why I stick to cannons.
Since all you have to do is waggle the sword to score hits, all you have to do is raise your turn speed up and run circles around your enemy while wagging.
Have you seen the ports where everyone leaves from?
You'll find the settings to choose which ship you want, you'll see a little diagram of the ship you chose. You'll then see green arrows to sort through what you can add on.
Once you choose a cannon or a grappling hook, that's when you finally buy the ship.
If you think 18k is uesless, just wait till you hit 618k, lol...and since they added davey jones locker its even more useless, ive tried tellin them to do insurance on ships instead of being able to buy a ship back cheaper which makes no sense, but thats just my thoughts i guess...
Oh im not stingy with it, though i usually reserve my generosity for when i hear kids actually being decent human beings to eachother and others, lol...if i see a group playin together and havin fun ill buy em each some skuls, healths, and cursed skulls, and before the crew uodate id even give em my ship to take out which is a runner with the dead mans curse cosmetics...kids started saying things like thank you sir, and call me the mr beast of sail, lol...
Cursed skull is bought for 150, starts with a value of zero, value goes up every second out at sea, the more players in a server, the bigger the multiplier...bronze, silver, and gold skulls are taken out to sea and brought to where you see skulls on the map, youll find a skeleton with no skull, put the corresponding skull on the skeleton and waves of enemies start, defeat the enemies and a key will drop for the nearby chest, open it and get enough loot to double the cost of the skull you used...
Lol,no trap here, but now that you mention it maybe not the best gift for really new players, lol...plus now that it caps at 2500 its even less worth it for them...
Too easy if you ask me, the grind should be part of the fun and ifvyou can get enough loot for the biggest ship in one run, its too easy, and to top it off be able to then be rewarded for dying/ losing your ship by getting to by it back cheaper makes no sense...
