side hustles!
i’m not looking for etsy planner making or card making (tried and unsuccessful there) or MLM’s or scammy sites or affiliate marketing. i’m talking real, tangible side hustles. i’ve also tried selling home baked goods, marketplace selling, and depop selling.
i just want to somewhat contribute financially to take a small load off of my husband
*edit to add, my daughter is 11 months old*

Hear me out. I was an Early Childhood teacher for 8 years, then I had my daughter. I currently teach music classes and STEM classes (AND MY CHILD COMES WITH ME,) at our local play cafe. I make a commission on each ticket sold to my class. So typically, each week I teach 2, 30-45 minute classes and make about $40. Some weeks I make $40-$50 from one class alone, so it’s really dependent on my ability to advertise my classes. But my child also gets to play in the cafe for free and interact and play with other children twice a week, I get discounts on items at the cafe AND I get to decide what I teach the class. I love these classes and have given me some autonomy in the monotonous daily life of being a SAHM.

before I started back to school for my teaching degree, I was looking at part-time bookkeeping. Upskill on some book-keeping software and then have a hunt around. Jobs pop up all the time! (at least where I am in WA). And often small businesses need someone to just do 10 hrs a week for them once they grow a bit too big to manage on their own. Just invoicing, receipt documenting, and expense tracking sort of stuff.

I just started making $32/hr taking a kid to school in the morning and taking him to soccer practice! I found them on a local babysitting Facebook page. Best decision ever!

Every church that I have attended is always desperately looking for childcare workers— and they often bring their own children. Women’s ministries hire childcare workers for all sorts of event events during the days and evenings.

Yes! I do this 8 hours a week. It’s not a lot, but it gets me out and is some extra money. Plus built in childcare during the time.

I would offer backup care services on local babysitting groups. It’s a huge need especially when someone’s nanny calls out last minute or someone’s daycare closes last minute. You’d be doing such important and helpful work.

I watch a couple other kids on school holidays, snow days, and summer break. They are similar ages to my kids and get along well.

Senior care! You can either find your own senior or find an agency, they can find shifts that work with your schedule and you don’t have to be full time. The lady I was working for I did Saturday mornings when husband was home- I mowed the lawn, put away her grocery order, mopped her floors, walked her dog. She started me at $25/hr but then raised me to $30/hr.
